This is the best place I have stayed in Japan. Very big lounge with river view, where you can talk, play cards, read and eat. The staff are so nice, especially Yukio and Aya. Thank you for giving a room tour, recommending a restaurant and cleaning the kitchen in the morning:) The room is comfortable as well, and I especially like daily cleaning. Onsen is the best of all the places that I have been to. They even have private onsen space. Can you believe it? Once again, thank you for everything. I hope I can stay with K’s house again in the near future !
Shimoda
The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units offering a desk, a coffee machine, a fridge, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV, a terrace and a private bathroom with a hot tub. Each unit has a kettle, while some rooms include a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, an oven and a microwave. At the ryokan, units are equipped with bed linen and towels. The location was perfect for getting away from the busy streets of Tokyo, though I highly recommend renting a (small!) car to get here, as it is tucked away from public trsnsportation routes. Our room was clean, surprisingly well equipped and comfortable. Service was spot on, communication with our host was easy and quick. We never saw any of the staff though, which made the quality of service just that much more impressive. We were the only guests staying here at the time, so we had all facilities to ourselves (an introvert's dream). There were plenty of instructions in english for all the general how-tos, check-in and check-out was easy using the machine. Prepare to face some bugs around the area, we had a few interesting encounters with moths by the entrance. The room itself was equipped with bugspray and deterrents, though we didn't need them as our room was perfectly wildlife free. The bug screen in the private onsen kept the bugs at bay, allowing us to bathe and sleep while enjoying the sounds and smells of the surrounding nature!

Our special thanks goes to the very nice male staff who render his efficient services in table-setting for the many dishes of traditional Japanese cuisines, both for dinner and breakfast. He guided us the unique flavors of each type of food and the best way of eating with various sauces and condiments.
He took the initiative to give us pamphlets about the sight-seeing spots nearby. We took his advice and did another hour of touring to learn more about Atami.
It was a very hospitable and warming journey we had had with this hotel. Thank you for the very kind services of all the dedicated staff as well.

Very authentic experience in a traditional but original Ryokan. The futon was very comfortable and the room spacious. The onsen was pleasant and spacious, including an outside bath. The price was fair and convenient. Overall we recommend this place.
Had a beautiful ocean view Japanese style tatami room. We were served an INCREDIBLE dinner in the dining room while wearing yukata. Nice hot springs.
Old style hotel with tatami room. Good onsen B2 and annex Nice yukata Convenient shuttle bus to station Spacious tatami room
A wonderful stay with comfortable futon beds, private balconies overlooking the peaceful river, and a beautifully designed ryokan with modern Japanese interiors. The two onsen baths onsite are a great way to relax after a long day, and be sure to try the delicious home-cooked Japanese breakfast offered by the kind hostess! Could not recommend this stay more highly!
a very famous ryokan that K onsen bought over. it is a very old and historical so please listen to the staff and don't roll or drag your luggage on the floors and stairs. which is to say, don't bring heavy luggages as the rooms are all on higher levels Room is very clean and love love love the tatami room. Onsen is really lovely too. they have 2 private onsens, but they are rather small so the shared onsen will be better. lounge area is very big with different areas.
