Lovely place. Excellent location for boarding our cruise ship. Staff were very friendly and super helpful. The cafe was a great place to chill with fab coffee and food. The cheese and spinach toastie was delicious. Our room was surprisingly spacious for 4 of us and had everything we needed, very comfortable. A short walk into the centre of town to all the shops and eating places. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again.

The White Star Tavern, hotel in Southampton

Located in Southampton city center, this inn was built in the 19th century. It is now a contemporary hotel offering free Wi-Fi access.

Friendly staff and a cheerful check in. Breakfast was so delicious, the room was opulent and very clean. Can’t fault anything and the bathrobes and chocolates were most welcome. The decor is well thought out and colour schemes relaxing. We appreciated being able to leave our bags in the office for a couple of hours.

FAQs about hotels in Southampton

Historic Port of Walls

A departure point for Isle of Wight ferries and grand cruise liners including the Queen Mary 2, Southampton is understandably centered around its port. But even if you’re passing through, the city has more than enough to make you want to stay awhile. The Hythe Ferry from the port passes Netley, site of a ruined abbey, and ends at Hythe Pier, home to the world’s oldest pier train.

There is much older history in the city center where the 15th-century city walls are amongs the most complete in England. Also remaining is the medieval Bargate gatehouse.

Just behind is the Bargate Shopping Center, while main street stores in the city center and West Quay are other Southampton shopping choices. As for entertainment, the city has great theaters, and Oxford Street has the best bars and restaurants. All are easily reached from the apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Southampton available on Booking.com.

There is also a surprising amount of green space in the city and its central parks is a historic site. Slightly further out is Southampton Common, whose Urban Wildlife Centre is worth a visit.

If you’re flying out of Southampton Airport, don’t leave without having visited the Maritime Museum or Archaeology Museum, both detailing the history of this long-established city.

The Pub across the road does not serve food.

The Pub across the road does not serve food. There are several places to eat roughly 1 mile away, a 15 minute walk. The Mayflower Village Pub served excellent meals and drinks. Ristorante Italiano also served very good Italian food. There is a Subway close by that is open for breakfast. We Ubered from the bus station and to the cruise terminal.

We went to Southampton to go to the Mayflower theatre which is good value compared to London theatres. It has lots of shows and good facilities. We will go back. We stayed in 003.

We stayed in 003. Very spacious but this is what facilities I should have had. The spacious family room features a tea and coffee maker and a seating area, as well as a private bathroom boasting a bath. The well-equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, kitchenware, a microwave and a toaster. This family room features a sofa, heating and a flat-screen TV. The unit has 2 beds. All we got was the tea & coffee making facilities. Table in there but nothing else. Rooms spacious but found lounge & beds very uncomfortable. Thankfully only stayed the one night. Quiet & grounds lovely.

Loved loved loved asolutely everything!! Completely Surpassed every expectation I had. All the little details throughout the rooms and in the hotel helped make the stay. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and were always so helpful. Brekkie was divine, lunch on the terrace just as good, the way it is set out with the restaurant, lounge and terrace is perfect. If you get the chance to go,go!! I'm already looking into booking my next visit, it was that good. Thank you Southampton Harbour Hotel for a perfect stay 😊

My wife and I booked this hotel as a stopover to Southampton to start our cruise. It’s an ideal location. For travellers to cruise terminals. The hotel itself is stunning, it has obviously undergone a lot of renovation and the decor is stunning whilst in keeping its original features. The staff were fantastic , especially Nick . The Moxy is fresh, modern, funky, the main lobby/bar and rooms are very clean and well appointed and a great location for West Quay, food outlets, bars and the sea front. We have stayed in both the Moxy & Premier Inn just next door prior to cruising, the Premier Inn is a good hotel & brand, but i am sorry to say the one at West Quay needs a makeover as its looking slightly tired.
