Very warm welcome upon arrival. My room was lovely and clean and I had a very good sleep. The breakfast was very nice, and it was great to see that veggie sausages were offered.

The Embankment Hotel is in a beautiful location beside the Ouse River. Only a short walk from the center of town, this riverside setting overlooks quiet gardens and a Victorian bridge.

Room was more than adequate for a one night stay although I'd got a little fed up with the emails before arrival trying to get me to upgrade. Room was in the new block, nicely decorated and had a view over towards the river. Bed was very comfortable and shower was excellent with good quality toiletries. No shelf in bathroom for own toiletries but glasses were glass not plastic. Tea & coffee making facilities offered a couple of additional flavoured teas. Fridge in room which would be useful for a longer stay. We arrived early so were able to find a parking space and the parking system in the hotel to register the car was easy to use. All of the staff were polite and professional.

Large twin room with all modern facilities. Breakfast was good with a range of options. location is very central and in a good area of Bedford. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel decor on the inside and in the rooms is of a good modern standard, unlike the outside appearance, this is one hotel that could do with some cladding.

Woodlands Manor is a secluded manor house in acres of grounds and gardens 2 miles from Bedford town center and accessible from the M1 motorway.

So, looking at prior reviews I decided to book this on a whim. What I can say is that the surroundings are amazing. Located close to the city centre but far enough away to not be bothered by traffic flowing past. Plenty of parking spaces, beautiful hotel with an interesting history. Our room was fantastic, quiet and a great view of the tranquil gardens from the windows. We are coming back and hopefully sooner rather than later. Staff helpful and pleasant and the breakfast (we were out in the evenings) was perfect with plenty of choice. How this place has 3 stars I'll never know.
