Breakfast was very good - we just went simple though. The owners, Izzy and Peter were super friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights and would have enjoyed staying longer if our schedule worked. It is in an older building but recently reworked.
Booking.com made a mixup on the credit card. I gave them the card and it seemed accepted. The host was not paid and asked about it and I found a note on my confirmation that the location did not accept credit cards which was not true. Izzy handled this very well - friendly question before our departure and all resolved, they took ours. I blame Booking.com

I could quite happily have spent 2 days just in Dunster then used it as a base for the wider area - the beaches and even Cheddar gorge. We ate dinner at the Luttrell Arms which was nice but Reeves looked good too. We had coffee and cake at Tessa's Tea rooms and bought stuff in the independent shops. The only thing I'd have changed was the weather as we had a few downpours but that's Britain for you!!

Iys a very old village with more grade 2 listed buildings than anywhere else in England. The Castle and grounds are always good to visit. We had a good choice of walks in the surrounding countryside. There are a few good places to eat including a very good Aisian restaurant. It's very easy to get around the village.

Dunster is on the edge of Exmoor National Park, which imho is the most underrated national park in the UK. The views are magnificent, with small cozy towns, beautiful nature, good roads for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Dunster itself is a small cozy village with a proper Castle, although through shortness of time we didn't visit it.

The small town has a lot to offer - lovely walks around the castle, good restaurants to choose from, interesting shops and a superb art gallery with a labrynth of beautiful works of art. A must has to be the West Somerset railway which you can catch the steam train from Dunster station - Dunster Beach is close by where can walk to Blue Anchor along the stunning coastal path.
Hathaway Restaurant is quirky but great food.
Yarn Market Hotel offers a good menu in homely surroundings.

We had a lovely stay at the house.
We had a lovely stay at the house.
Pete and Karen were the perfect hosts. Very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Good local knowledge and recommendations.
Very pretty area and good location for all amenities.
We loved this hotel and didn't want to leave! Our room overlooked the Yarn Market with the most fabulous plaster chimney over mantle. The four poster bed was very comfortable although it took a bit of practise getting up onto the high mattress. Clean modern bathroom and lots of room to spend wet March days in the armchairs. The breakfasts were excellent and Jules and the team first class. Dunster is an interesting village yo explore with several high hills to climb locally and lots of footpaths to follow.
We love Dunster but had not stayed at the Dunster Castle hotel before. The location is convenient to everything, and the car park behind was a pleasant surprise! The rooms were stylish and super comfortable (a glass of sherry before bed was delightful), and breakfast was delicious. Our son was with us and had an interview over Zoom and the wi-fi worked perfectly. We could not have been happier with the hotel and the owners—just so accommodating. We will definitely stay here our next time to Dunster.
Delicious breakfast ....very good assortment of pastries , cerals, fruits. The hot choices were very good and cooked to perfection. We loved the staff. They were all wonderful esp Jules, Freya, Lucy, Charlie. Dinner was superb. The fish n chips were an A+++ and we are from New England.
The hotel is so steeped in unique history and each nook and crannies reflects this beauty. Our room ( #1)was fantastic.I The Secret Garden was indeed a lovely secret haven for afternoon tea.
The staff were very friendly and accomadating. The room was warm and had everything we needed. The bathroom had a shower and a bath which was an added bonus.Breakfast was delicious and kept us going most of the day.The view into Dunster was gorgous.
The windows in the room don't open which was abit of a pain and the glasses by the water were abit dirty.Otherwise a lovely place to stay and I would highly recommend to anyone visting Dunster.
Fabulous room with seating area, overlooking the garden. The bath! Essential after a 50km run! Lovely toiletries. Really comfy bed. Fridge with complimentary water. Fan which was appreciated as so hot. Food was fabulous, as were the restaurant staff- the same 2 ladies seemed to be there all weekend, as was the lovely lady on reception. Staff all so friendly. Rear access to the castle and to my race.
Beautifully appointed room - lovely bedlinen and fluffy towels. Exceptionally clean. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Additional little touches made all the difference - fresh milk, biscuits, selection of teas and coffee, toiletries etc. Room was spacious and comfortable. Great choice for breakfast and all delicious! Central location close to all Dunster has to offer.
Fourth time staying here, each time in a different room. Delighted with all of them. Love all the thoughtful little extras, such as bath bubbles and sun cream for my face. Fresh milk in the fridge outside our door, along with spare supplies of drinks and snacks. Lovely location for exploring the village, with handy on-street parking right outside the door from 6pm to 9am.
John and Lisa did an amazing job in making my husband and I feel welcome. Our room was well presented and as expected and for breakfast, being able to give our order and breakfast time in advance meant that we barely had to wait which was convenient.
Being able to park in the hotel car park before checking in to do things in Dunster was massively appreciated too.
Cosy, comfy, friendly - you could tell as soon as you walked up the path, through the lovely flowery garden, that it was going to be a great place to stay. And it was all so welcoming, with a great breakfast and lovely touches like a range of locally produced teas and 'proper' biscuits in the room - and all in such a historic location, so close to Dunster castle
The property is well equipped & comfortable with everything you need to make your stay perfect in every way.
The apartment is located in an excellent location to explore Dunster & the surrounding countryside.
We enjoyed our short vacation & thank Nina & Andrew for providing excellent accommodation & perfects hosts.
From the minute we got there (late as usual), we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Immaculately clean and breakfast was to die for. I've stayed in many hotels and locations and this was by far the best. I will definitely be going back. Thank you to our hosts and see you again.
A wonderful place to stay in Dunster. Fabulous hosts, super clean and comfortable. We enjoyed eating in their restaurant Hathaways - you must book in advance to get in. Kasia was an excellent host and Sandro’s food was perfection. Don’t stay anywhere else!
Location good with walks from doorstep to hills, coast and Dunster village. lovely garden views, jungly courtyard, well equipped beautifully decorated cosy and quiet accomodation, friendly hosts. Makes for splendid holiday.
