the location was great, walkable to the remarkable onsen, castle, and the station. It was spacious and clean. Fully equipped with utensils.

Amazing house in a fantastic location. The traditional tatami bedrooms were stunning.

The old house was built in the early 1900s, by a rich merchant and it has probably not changed since then except electricity/modern bathroom and the addition thousands of poetry books. You fell you are travelling back in time, giving you a taste of an old Japanese house atmosphere and a glimpse of the personality of the people who lived there. It such a valuable experience to stay in an old house. The second floor room is exclusively for you to enjoy, with toilets, sink... The room is very spacious and relaxing. The garden and interior are lovely. The amenities are much more modern than the house! The area is also such a lovely surprise, an old quiet harbour being kept alive through small tea/coffees/restaurants. Arrive early during the day, and enjoy the walking tour on the map given by your hosts. It is a mix of old and new houses for inhabitants looking for authenticity, quiet & peace. Most of all you want to support the immense work done by the hosts Maiko and Yoshi, who put their heart and sweat in keeping this beautiful typical house to its wonderful glory. Maiko speaks some English so it is easier for the communication.

It was a great room in a great location

Highly recommend this property! Definitely worth staying for! Prime location: the property is just next to Dogo Park and about 5-7 mins walk outside the shopping area of Dogo Onsen and Dogo Onsen Honkan. It is perfect for those who prefer quiet and peaceful environment. We do suggest do your grocery shopping before arriving Dogo Onsen. There were Aeon and other supermarkets on the way to Dogo Onsen. It was a bit tricky to find the way to the entrance/drive way from Google Map or GPS. They both took us to Dogo Park, which is where the property was located next to then struggle to get to the property. But manpower fixed the problem so I wouldn’t worry too much. Room design: the property has mixed modern Japanese style design in the bedroom and toilet and Taisho style design in the dining area. Love the balance between antique and contemporary. We absolutely love the dining room and the lounge, especially when we are enjoying our coffee time. Appliances and cutlery: the most equipped kitchen I have ever seen in guesthouse. It looks like the property maybe used for catering purposes beforehand (or specifically designed for a very good cook). There is an industrial grade fridge (even we only used the little one as requested) and a cabinet full of beautiful plates and bowels. Our dinner and breakfast almost turned into a fine dining experience. Bathroom: this is definitely the highlight of the property. We knew 源泉掛け流し is the highly regarded in onsen but we never tried one until staying here. It was fascinating to know that you can get the onsen straight from the sauce. It was a wonderful experience. And we now know why previous guests all said they went to the bath multiple times. Prompt reply: the host replies any enquires pretty much straight away and was very helpful. We did accidentally parked at the wrong spot so please accept our late apologies. Check-in/check-out: there is a tablet for check-in and check-out.

The owner was very helpful giving us lots of suggestions for things to see and do in the area, the house is well equipt and close to Dogo Onsen and other sights.

Miyoshi was very welcoming and had excellent tips for the area on activities and also places to eat out. The accommodation was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable with great facilities.

two tatami rooms are very nice, 10/15 minutes walk to Matsuyama city, good communication with host friendly neighbours at first we were disappointed cause the bathroom is just a plastic add on on the balcony and the house from otside is not so nice also very close to train tracks, was okay cause trains do not run during the night but was a surprise However we felt okay after all. Ita a good expierince for real life japan. Common flat for common people.
