Located just 3.9 km from King John's Castle, Shannon River House & Gardens features accommodation in Limerick with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. The property features garden and inner courtyard views, and is 3 km from Thomond Park. The homestay also provides free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. This was, without question, our favourite stay of the whole trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed into something very special. Marc, his son Harry, and the rest of their family are restoring a magnificent old house set in a beautiful riverside landscape, with ancient trees, a small chapel on the grounds, and views of the river from the bedroom windows. The house itself is somewhere between timeworn and lovingly renewed — full of character, a place that breathes history but feels alive. Their dog Noah, a charming and friendly dalmatian, held court from the living room chair and added even more soul to the place. It was the only spot on our journey where our baby could sleep peacefully in the room while we were able to relax elsewhere in the house. For any parents travelling with a toddler, that’s priceless. But most of all, we’ll remember the people: a wonderful evening spent chatting with Marc and another guest, Brian, who shared captivating stories of his past at sea — a moment of genuine connection, like visiting friends rather than staying in a guesthouse. This is not a polished hotel — it’s a living project, full of soul, and it deserves to be supported. We truly hope more travellers will find their way here and help this beautiful vision thrive.

We were lucky to have good weather on our stay and it was lovely sitting out on the patio and doing a BBQ and a fire at night. It was just really peaceful, private and quite. It was only a 20 minute drive to the town where we could get anything we needed. I would definitely come back.

This holiday home is fitted with 1 bedroom, a kitchenette with an oven and a microwave, a flat-screen TV, a seating area and 1 bathroom fitted with a shower. Towels and bed linen are offered in the holiday home. The property has an outdoor dining area. I didn't end up staying at the Gamekeepers cabin but in the main lodge penthouse apartment, The lodge was absolutely amazing! Great comfortable bed and linens (key for me!), fresh bread and the best scones I've ever had waiting for me upon arrival. The house decor was designer level (Dali busts in the courtyard :)) and the apartment was very well equipped. I hope to bring my whole family and rent out the complete lodge! A definite highlight to my trip through Ireland!

With free WiFi, this 3-bedroom holiday home provides a flat-screen TV, a washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and oven. Towels and bed linen are provided in the holiday home. The accommodation offers a fireplace. Everything about our stay was more than expected. I enjoyed my conversation with Kevin and learning about the history of the property and the area. Kevin was more than just a host! He was completely 'tuned in' to what we needed, was always quick to reply to any changes and had a solid plan, for anything that we may/may not be needed for our stay. The cottage is very comfortable, with more amenities than we expected and fit the entire family (7 adults and two children) without any issues. The cottage is also within walking distance of a pub/restaurant, with about a five-minute drive to a larger town for additional shops and local businesses. We needed nothing and were able to 'stretch out' and live for the moment. The cottage is also situated just outside the local village and has rolling hills with grazing pastures/farmland. As I mentioned to Kevin, our host, I would love to return in the winter, as well. Nothing was needed and we will definitely be returning, upon our next trip back to Ireland. I can't thank Kevin enough for his hospitality and professionalism in granting us the best stay possible, during our visit.
