Soonum Hostel is more like a homestay. The host family is incredibly kind and hospital. The mother often invites the guests to pancake and snacks. I felt so at home there I never wanted to leave. The beds are comfy, the amenities great and there is a proper kitchen and fridge. They have the most adorable baby, Serdar who is a delight to play with and super friendly.

Staying at the karakol yurt village is an incredible experience. The hosts are a very friendly and kind Kyrgyz family, who not only provide an incredible stay, but make an effort to get to know their guests and offer them experiences in the Kyrgyz mountains. The food is fantastic - locally sourced ingredients and homemade Kyrgyz meals make for an amazing experience. I highly recommend staying here while/before trekking in Karakol!

What a wonderful experience! Mr. Mars' hospitality was exceptional, exceeding all expectations. He readily assisted with activities and transportation, even suggesting skiing when I had no plans. He arranged for a ski instructor who spoke excellent English. The hotel was impeccably clean and beautifully themed; my room was fresh and spotless, with clean linens. The breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared each morning. Mr. Mars' thoughtful gesture of driving me to the bus station and ensuring I boarded the correct marshrutka was truly appreciated. An incredibly welcoming and friendly place to stay. Rooms are large and very pleasant, with comfy beds. Being able to leave bags while you go into the mountains for some days is super helpful too. Great hospitality!
