The owner, Masahiro-San, will treat you like family, and his advice about what to see and where to eat is spot on. If you cannot carry your suitcase up the steps to the upper floor, you can bring the futons downstairs and sleep on the heated floor. We came here with another couple and we all loved this house and Gujo. Ask Masa-San to pick you up at the station, if he can he will! The great reviews are very deserving, if you like Japanese style living you will like Nomad Inn. The 6 am. temple bell will remind you every morning what another world it is here!

Skiing and cycling can be enjoyed nearby, while a ski equipment rental service, ski-to-door access and a ski pass sales point are also available on-site. We had a very nice time, beautiful surroundings and the owner was great to us! Very recommended

We had a huge traditional bedroom complete with futon, tea & kimono. Private outdoor onsens we could use as a couple. The food was absolutely incredible. Soooo much love & thought went into every course. It was the best meal of the trip. Thank you so much for having us!

The hotel is 5 minutes from the bus station, with connections to the main cities and to the Kamikoche park. Overall, highly recommended.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. I have no words other than - wow. Beautiful place in the woods, minimalist interior, impeccable. It’s all about the small details! The shuttle service to and from the stay was also super helpful. We had dinner two nights in a row, the first night with the wine pairing. We had drinks we never had in our lives (we ended up buying a couple of bottles) and tasted one of the best meals we have ever had. The second night they remembered our favorite drinks and in general were so attentive. I have nothing but good words to say about this place and I’d recommend staying there to anyone coming to Takayama.

It was a perfect stay for us, a short train away from Takayama, and easy to travel to Shirawaka after. It is a place you don't want to leave after you get there. Very relaxing, beautiful, the staff were, the food incredible. The rooms were perfect, clean, spacious, the views, the bath, the beds. Everything was perfect!
