ColombiaWe are in a serious quest for Colombian tourist hidden spots and I can guarantee, this is a marvellous option to disconnect from the urban context and have a really nice and natural experience at Guarinocito. Usually one sacrifices road connections to find these kind of jewels, but Tuku is exceptionally well connected, so any car will reach it. There are just three rooms adapted within a "casa campesina" full equipped with air condition and ventilator system, semi-hard matrix (something not so common in the rural areas) and a small but neat bathroom. (there is another option to stay using some smaller huts with curtains, that looked OK. (ask directly). The most attractive area of the complex is a swimming pool fed with filtered water from the nearby river, so it contains minimum levels of chlorine and is very well designed with open and shadow areas for anyone to choose. At evening the lighting is beautiful. It is divided by 3 different depths. Next to it, there is a short trail that will lead you to some spots on a hilly area within the complex that allows a wonderful view of Colombian Cordilleras (mountain ranges) and the close river of Guarinocito. Early and during dawn, it's possible to watch so many bird species that is a must to pack binoculars. Not being all these enough, we are aloud as Tuku visitors, to cross the road and visit the open area of a farm that has a green plane to play frisbee, get in direct contact with the river and watch more birds! The food is varied and generous (almost too big for some smaller eaters like me) and the owners will make sure to have vegetarian options or prepare the food if you need any adjustment. Within the region of Honda and Mariquita, the weather is simply too hot, that's why I was surprised that Guarinocito's weather was so comfortable and at night it used to rain, so every morning was pretty fresh. We will definitely come back.
