We absolutely loved our stay here The dinner/breakfast served is amazing, a lot of options even for non-vegetarians The place felt very clean and well taken care of. We felt welcome even though it feels like a place mainly for tourists, we would still definitely recommend the experience even for one night to see the morning ceremony The room is amazing, very spacious and with great views to the garden and temple, offers a lot of amenities, welcome tea and snack, yakata, toothrbrush, hair comb etc.

Perfect stay. The monks are super friendly even if they don’t speak english. The food is good and very traditional and the rooms are great. Spacious tatami style, loved it so much I regret not staying longer. They even give you a flashlight if you want to explore at night. The placement is perfectly fine.

Staying in a monastery in Koya is a rare experience, but for those who'd like to have that with minimal costs, there are two options: either room-or-bathroom sharing lodgings, or Sekishoin! You get to enjoy the privacy of your own room, for a reasonable price compared to everything else around. And, to top it off, the people here were lovely. There were complementary woven bracelets upon checking in. I was late to my breakfast, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it waiting for me (and needless to say, the food is delicious). There are also explanatory notes pertaining to various things in Japanese culture or monastery life, such as clothing or meals. Final note, the futon was super comfy and perfectly warm despite the cold snowy winter.

Traditional Japanese style accommodation, lots of room with public baths and some nice scenery in the area. Easily accessible from the local train station. Local restaurant choice is limited, so something to consider during your stay. Very relaxing experience overall

A lovely experience - we especially enjoyed the meditation, morning prayers and amazing traditional vegetarian meals provided. The location is great- just a couple of minutes walk from the incredible cemetary and 15 minutes walk into the centre of town. Our room with bathroom was spacious and very comfortable, with lovely garden outside.

Very good location in Koya. It's near the city centre but a bit removed from the Okunoin cemetery.
