Good news for hikers: the Staubern cable car - which takes you to the Saxer Lücke formation - is only a 20 minute walk. I could absolutely stay here for longer. I will definitely return here!

Located next to the car-free centre of Appenzell, Adler Hotel is set in a beautiful traditional Appenzell-style building. It offers free Wi-Fi and wired internet access, a breakfast buffet, and a charging station for electric car. The location is central, the facilities are super-clean and compfy, the breafast was fresh and tasty, featuring local produce, but the real gem of this hotel was its staff. We communicated mostly with Matjaz at the reception and Madalina at breakfast and they impressed us with their efficiency, friendliness and attention to detail. Thank you, guys, you really made us feel welcome! The value for money is excellent and we highly recommend this hotel. The only suggestion we have: in summer, it would be nice to start breakfast at 7 rather than 7:30 am.

Top of the cake: I was challenged to make my scrambled eggs on my own for breakfast and I was really truly happy, there was no chance for any dissappointment coming from the hotel kitchen:-)

Offering free private parking, the 3-star apartment is 28 km from Säntis. Guests can make use of the sun terrace or the barbecue, or enjoy views of the mountain and garden. We had the lower appartment which was a beautiful place with a gorgeous view from the window with a small terrace to catch the spring sun. New modern bathroom, fully equipped kitchen. We also appreciated a washing machine and a dryer as we came for skiing. The slopes are really close. There was also a pingpong table in the basement which was a plus for the kids.
