Shiva’s Hippies Colony in Sauraha is not just a guesthouse , it is a home. Raj and Swastika form a lovely family. Kind, respectful and human, they welcome you not as a customer but as a friend. From the very first moment, you feel safe, at ease, and truly seen. It’s a typical Nepali family setting, where you can experience something truly different. They are not acting kind, they are kind. Authentically. You can feel it in everything they do. I kept extending my stay, day after day. I only left because I couldn’t change my flight ticket. They can help you arrange any activity such as jungle walks, jeep safaris, canoe rides. Pick-up and drop-off are available too, to and from the bus park. They provide bycicles for free, the Wi-Fi is excellent, and the chill-out area invites you to relax, read, meditate, or simply be. The rooms are clean and comfortable, matress is top quality and the food is nourishing and delicious, and the pool is a big bonus. If you are heading to Sauraha and want to experience something deeper than just transactions and services (not blaming anyone,it’s just not my cup of tea), look no further. This is your place. Go with time. Let yourself slow down.

An excellent place to observe animals and fauna of all kinds. The hotel was excellent and very clean. If you're very lucky you will see a tiger. And if your guides are Gopal and Som you are very lucky indeed! A most excellent guide and enthusiast about all he sees. Knows so much too! We were surprised to see the rhino grazing and walking inside the garden of the hotel.

Not a luxury hotel, but great value for money. Nice and very friendly staff. The restaurant inside the hotel has very good food and they can organize all types of safaris, buy tickets for the buses to other cities or rent bikes. But the part we liked most was the garden in front of the room, which allowed us to wake up in the morning listening to all kinds of birds, despite being very close to the center of the village and the headquarter of the natural park. Very close, just walking 5 minutes, you can also see the place where the goverment have some elephants and one night we even saw a big wild rhino passing very close to the hotel street.

Located slightly further away from sauraha city and therefore offers quiet surroundings for good rest. Room design is local tharu style and I like it a lot. Highly recommended.

Rooms come with soothing wall colours and large windows that provide natural light. Each has a seating area, work desk and an attached bathroom. Shower facilities and toiletries are included. The hotel is right on the river and you can see rhinos and crocodiles right from the terrace, and or when walking along the river bank. The restaurant was good and I was well looked after by Sitaram who serves guests and was very helpful in arranging early breakfasts. The hotel organises safaris and other activities in Chitwan National Park, which is across the river. I did a morning canoe ride followed by a jungle walk, then a full day safari. I had a great experience with both, and had the same guide who was really keen to help us see wildlife. It's much better to do the full day safari which leaves early in the morning. You can split the cost with other guests from the hotel. (It can be cold, especially with the breeze from the open jeep, so dress warmly.) We saw loads of rhinos, including mothers and babies, but it was all in the first half of the day. They took us to the best spots to view the animals, based on information shared among the guides. For the half-day keep safaris that leave in the afternoon, you're out in the heat of the day, and everyone seems to come back disappointed. The hotel is also just a 5-10 minute walk to the town, though there's not a lot to do or see there. The jungle is the main attraction.

Pasar was an amazing host!🫶 he took really good care of us and arranged everything what we wanted to do! Really nice terrace and restaurant at the riverside where you can face crocodiles while you are having your beer. Food was one of the best we had in Nepal. Make sure you book one of the renovated rooms, the bed was really comfortable after the teahouse beds with the trekkings. Slept like a baby. Highly recommend this place
