United StatesThis house was amazing!!! We went as a group of 3 and only used 2 bedrooms, but the house is spacious enough with an additional two rooms (including a Japanese style room) that a larger group could be here comfortably. The beds and sofa were all comfortable.
The awesome part is that so many items like shampoo/soap, laundry detergent, and coffee are provided so that you can pack light. Additionally, not only are there the typical items you get from a hotel, but the kitchen is even stocked with pantry basics like oil, vinegar, and various sauces if you want to cook your meals instead of eating out, which we were able to do one night because the kitchen has almost any utensil or pot you need.
The owner was very pleasant to communicate with! They responded pretty promptly when we had questions for them and English was not a problem at all.
The location of this house is excellent. A very short walk down the block gets you to Upopoy, the national Ainu culture museum. It was a wonderful experience and this house made it very easy to visit. Between the house and Upopoy is also Lake Poroto, which has a nice walking/biking trail along it. The house is also across the street from a Shiraoi gift shop with great souvenirs and several vending machines for drinks close by. The Shiraoi station is only a slightly further walk past the gift shop and easily gets you to other interesting locations in Hokkaido. Be aware when you arrive at this station the first time, that you can get to the house quicker by using the backside exit of the station, rather than the front (going to the house around the front of the station is about a 15 minute walk while going through the back is only about 8 minutes). The town is also very quiet so the stay was very relaxing.
In summary, we fell in love with this place and definitely want to come back someday!
