Villa Marilu was amazing! It was very clean and well maintained. Waking up to the beautiful lagoon made my day. The entire staff is super friendly and helpful. Eduardo was always there very helpful with anything we needed, wether it was ideas, suggestions on sights or food, and answer any questions we might have. The property is well kept and offers a nice little breakfast and if we were in the mood for a heavier breakfast there was always the options of very good restaurants in the area. The villa has a cozy and private feel to it, which I loved.

What drew me to Bacalar was the Lagoon. Karalv has direct access with a beautiful covered deck, lounge chairs, stools and tables to enjoy coffee or other meals during the day. There are kayaks for guests and swimming in the lagoon is breathtaking. There’s also a beautiful pool in the garden to enjoy the sunshine and lush landscaping. Sergio who takes care of reservations is the best! He’s able to answer any question you may have and gives excellent recommendations. He helped me many times while setting up tours and translating when my Spanish wouldn’t do, he speaks excellent English and is a wonderful man. The staff is genuinely kind, hardworking and a pleasure to chat with. If you need anything ask and it will be provided or you’ll be easily directed to where you can find it. One of my personal favorite features are the resident animals. They’re amazingly well behaved and each have their own cute personalities. Bruno will make sure your stay is safe as he looks after Karalv with watchful blue eyes. Don’t miss the peacocks as well! After staying for a week it was hard to leave this peaceful bit of heaven that provides many picturesque spots to enjoy nature with a book or camera. An easy taxi ride to downtown’s great bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping and as a perfect home base to return to after a long day of adventures (cool off in the lagoon under the moonlight). A visit here will leave a mark on your heart, already planning my trip back maybe I’ll see you there!

Perfect location and owner was very helpful. Looks much more better then on the photos- we were with seniors and kids and no problem with bathroom outside. It is nice and clean.

Really beautiful location tastefully done accommodations. If we’re ever in the area again we will definitely book the spot. I highly recommend to anybody whether you’re staying in Bacalar lot or just passing through... Definitely the place to be. Best rental we’ve had in our four week vacation!
