We got probably the best rice and curry we've had on the island 😋 The safari was very well organised with a chauffeur and an English guide (ask for it, with extra fee, but totally worth it!). The guide taught us everything we wanted to know about the flora and fauna of the Wilpattu National Park and also some history of Sri Lanka. And breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided by Manju and his family, so - again - delicious! We've had some problems with the wifi and the swimming pool (misunderstanding) that were taking care off by the manager who lives in Colombo. We asked so he explained that every money that is made is put back into the community. Manju and his family benefit, but the rest of the community does as well. They provide clean drinking water, books and supplies for the local school. And the safaris are arranged by 3 local families. They don't advertise with that, but if the pictures don't win you over, this story definitely must! We highly recommend staying here!!

Pidurangala Rock is 11 km away and Sigiriya Rock is 12 km from the villa. This place is a heaven on earth! We stayed longer than planned because we felt so well here that we didn't want to leave... Without exageration, Mahesh is the best host we have ever met in our traveler life, he thinks about everything to make your stay perfect. The house is new and very comfortable, well located near all Sigiriya interest points and in a quiet area but not far from a city and local restaurants. But believe me, you won't need to go to a restaurant... We did one night and we immediately regreted it because the dishes prepared by Mahesh and his wife were way better! Also breakfasts were sooo generous that we didn't even need to have lunch after. We also shared some wonderful personal moments with all the family that we will never forget 🥰 My tips for your stay : - Ask Mahesh in advance if you need the swimming pool ready when you arrive - Have at least one diner there! You won't regret it 😉 - Ask his son Kevin to teach you how to play the local game Carrom, he is a very good player, good luck if you want to beat him! - Don't miss the local shower experience to the lake not far from the house. This is an excellent place for a family stay. It can easily accommodate 10+ people with an extra driver's room. All bedrooms have A/C. Rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and clean. Having four bathrooms means no rush in the morning if you want to attend a Pooja early. Being off the main street makes it quiet and yet easily accessible to nearby restaurants. The host was nice and attentive to messages. Highly recommend.
