Liked the prime location in grasmere. Thought the breakfast was good value and included in the price. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was OK but wasn't too busy. Generally, a laid-back atmosphere and comfortable areas to eat drink and chill out. Had a deluxe room which was clean and the bed comfortable.Towels in bathroom good quality.l Lovely view for window.A character building. Lots of tea coffee, etc, which is always a bonus.

Great location with free designated parking space. We were greeted by a lovely pleasant young lady, Sarah. Check-in was quick and simple and Sarah was very helpful and informative, even printing off a gluten free menu for the restaurant at the sister hotel. We had been upgraded(free) to a superior room with a view overlooking the river and bridge! The room was very large with extra king size very comfortable bed with bedside tables and power points each side, There was a desk/dressing table with mirror, and tea/coffee water and biscuits, plus a large armchair with coffee table by the huge window next to the river!
There were 2 double wardrobes, with auto lights inside, plenty of hangars and a safe, plus full length mirror. The bathroom had full length bath with double shower over with plenty of hot water, and a heated towel rail, plus toiletries and shaver point.
After unpacking, we went to the conservatory/ lounge for complimentary tea/coffee and scones(GF available). Our room was nice and warm and we slept very well.
The full english cooked breakfast (GF available)(pre order night before) was very good with 2 eggs, and brought to the table. My wife (who is Ceoliac) spoke to the chef and the waitress who both had a full understanding of the specific needs of GF preparation! There was a good selection of continental breakfast plus juice tea/coffee self service. The whole place was spotless throughout. Its in an ideal location for touring/walking. The hotel was quiet and peaceful and we would highly recommend it!!

Grasmere is full of lovely walks, you don't have to wander far to be in a super stunning surrounding. The walk around the lake is a pretty easy one to follow mainly flat and has a direct path so hard to get lost, but theres definitely opportunities to wander further a field, up into the hills, or over to the caves also from here. The lake is also a great place to paddle board or boat around, it's large enough and not too busy.
We absolutely loved Mathilde's Café at the Heaton Cooper Studio, the food was just delicious and such a pretty shop, great little seating spot outside providing blankets for al fresco dining. Sam Read Bookshop was also worth a look, there are a number of really lovely shops aside from all the main tourist hot spots in Grasmere. We also enjoyed a drink at Tweedies bar which had a lovely atmosphere and be a great place in the summer as it had a lovely beer garden setting to sit outside.

It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated.
It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated. The only downside is there wasn't a shower in our room and I have mobility issues. Also no full length mirror. The bathrooms are rather small, we burnt ourselves on the radiator a few times using the toilet. Obviously that wouldn't be a problem in Summer. I would stay there again but would want a room with a shower which would also give more room to move around.
The food was really good we ate there each night. Bit confused with breakfast. One day we got two slices of bacon the next day one and the poached eggs we're hit and miss, but there was plenty buffet which was excellent.
All in all a lovely place to stay with lovely staff, places to visit all around and breathtaking views.

We walked up Loughrigg Fell loop from Hotel, wonderful walk ..lots of other options of walks too. Ate at The Grasmere Inn ..sister Hotel ..was very bust..we did book ..lovely cosy feel but wa disappointed with the food .it was average ...burger v dry ..service not best ...althoughvery friendly....New waiter though. Wished we had tried somewhere else ...busy not always the best option!
The hotel location was excellent, the room (no. 27, on top floor) was very comfortable, clean and had pleasant views. The staff were all exceptional and made a point of greeting us, whenever we passed. The food, its presentation and service were superb. The Hotels consideration and adoption of measures to keep us all Covid- safe, were exceptional and we felt very well protected. The free and ample parking in an otherwise congested location was highly appreciated. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay there again. Peter and Colleen.
Central location in Grasmere. Comfortable beds. Afternoon tea included. Staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. Lovely relaxing main building. Breakfast included and plentiful with unique touches. Very clean bedroom and bathroom.Had a lower floor room as asked for. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Had a lovely meal at the sister Hotel the Inn . Had hot chocolate ,tea, coffee, and biscuits in the room. Lots of nice, thoughtful touches.
Had a fantastic two night stay here, everything was so lovely, we felt welcomed and it was a really relaxing environment to act as a base to explore Grasmere. Very comfortable room,.completed to a really high standard. We were even given an upgrade to our room!
The breakfast was extensive to a very high standard or organic products, we mentioned we were vegan and the gentleman very kindly cooked extra vegan options for us. The homemade bread was a lovely touch
Great Service and a great location. Great parking in front of hotel. For those who know Grasmere it's a huge benefit especially in the summer. Hotel room was clean and spacious with quality ammenaties and a large comfy bed, I would suggest some black out curtains or blinds to avoid a 5:45am wake up via the natural early morning day light, if you're not an early riser but no problem for me. All the food was delicious and great breakfast to start the day.
Excellent location for exploring the Lake District. Room was wonderful, right on the beautiful river- we had herons outside our window every morning; great walks accessible a few yards from the hotel door; the staff was fantastic; room and hotel had everything we needed; breakfast was great; easy onsite parking. Highly recommend and only wish we could’ve stayed longer!! PS have dinner at the Jumble Room in Grasmere if you can- it was fabulous!
Huge room as well as a large ensuite bathroom with bath and separate shower. The bathroom alone was bigger than some hotel rooms! Included kitchenette was very useful for breakfast and for simple meal preparation. Owner provided maps and advice on walking and an excellent post walk cafe (Mathilde). Grasmere is a very convenient location for the south Lake District area and more peaceful than Windemere.
It’s well located just outside Grasmere, from the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, helpful and charming. Our room was excellent and spotless and our evening meals were also superb as was breakfast. It’s also very attractive inside now, it’s obviously had a face lift since our last visit and much improved but the staff stand out especially for praise. Thank you.
All in all a very comfortable stay, the room was pricy but you expect that in the present climate however the staff were great and we managed to cancel a room on the day due to covid-19 with no extra charge, this was a joint effort between the hotel and booking.com so well done the both of you, much appreciated.
Hotel in a beautiful setting, surrounded by the mountains and a small river running alongside the hotel. Quite easy to visit areas around, including Windermere, Ambleside, Coniston, Keswick and of course Grasmere. The staff were exceptional! Friendly, helpful and always available to advise and inform.
We have stayed here in the past and love the location and the quality of food in the restaurant, but just before our visit we found out the hotel had been taken over by the Inn Collection Group so we were worried whether the standard of food would have remained, luckily it had.....and hope it continues.
Lovely hotel in an excellent location just 5 min walk to centre of Grasmere. Used public transport bus stop 2 mins away. Rooms were spotlessly clean & bed extremely comfortable. Good choice at breakfast. Staff very friendly & helpful. Will definitely stay again when visiting Grasmere.
The bacon was excellent and the availability of juices, cereals and fruit etc was very good. The hotel was nicely positioned in the village of Grasmere, which was a beautiful place. Staff were very helpful and the free drinks, instead of room cleaning each day, was inspired.
Gorgeous hotel, so cosy and charming. Right in the center of Grasmere, it couldn’t be better placed for access to all of the surrounding walks and visits. I loved the decor and the staff were really nice, down to earth and very happy to help. Great breakfast and comfy bed!
We have stayed at this hotel many times. On arrival we even had a card in our room welcoming us back! The hotel is exceptional and most of the staff are the same as when we first started visiting this hotel years ago which is an excellent sign of a well run establishment.
The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and couldn't help you enough.
We really enjoyed the breakfast as it was help yourself style buffet.
The location was in the heart of Grasmere with stunning scenery.
We would definitely stay again.
Excellent location for lovely walks on your front door. Immaculate hotel, fabulous food, amazing breakfast selection and great quality. Our favourite hotel in Grasmere. Lovely chilled music and superb views to relax and unwind.
This was a lovely warm hotel set in the centre of Grasmere Village with a big lounge for rainy days like we had and a perfect pre Christmas stay. The dinner, b&b deal was worth doing. Really helpful staff and a great room.
Location. Walkable to Grasmere, and right on the lake. Great walks close by and provided by hotel. Dove cottage across road.
All staff helpful and friendly.
Spa and bar.
Garden terrace.
Great breakfast
