Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit.
Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit. Can get busy there in summer. Limited food outlets in Matlock Bath, mostly fish and chips. Lots of motorbikes when the weather is good so traffic held up. Easily accessible by train from Derby and bus from Sheffield only cost £2.00

Matlock Bath has 24 fish & chip shops (!!!), a couple of traditional pubs and an excellent Indian restaurant, The Balti.
For fine dining, go to Stones in Matlock itself. Fabulous!
Traffic is awful at weekends and especially Bank Holidays.
Cromford Mill is a must visit (with the volunteer tour guide).
Famous bookshop and great Chocolate Shop also in Cromford.

Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral.
Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral. We have been to Matlock and the surrounding area before and would certainly stay at this accommodation again. It was very central. This is an ideal location to travel around and is very cost effective.

Matlock Bath is such a beautiful place , the views, the walks, and a lovely restaurant called The Seafood Cave and Grill. The food here was omg so fresh and tasty! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, not cheap but worth a visit. Some of the other local pubs ran out of food on a Saturday afternoon which baffled us to be honest? Lots of fish and chips available which seem to appeal to motorcycles. The walks are beautiful and the heights of Abraham are well worth a visit.

Town located in the Peak District, with great food choices, and many interesting shops. Convenient for hill walking and riverside strolls. Close to Cromford Mill World Heritage site. Pleasant park and scenic views.
The room was a lovely size and very clean. The bathroom was huge ... it had a walk in shower and beautiful roll top bath, complete with candles! Everything was impeccably clean and very welcoming.. The breakfast was perfect, my partner had the full English twice and it was cooked beautifully. We also had a selection of fruits and natural yoghurt which again was fresh and lovely. The dining room over looking the valley and the views were amazing. Would highly recommend a stay with Sue and Dave .. both super welcoming and super lovely :)
Lovely hotel, small patio area and car park.
Beautiful views and only a short walk into Matlock Bath.
Our room was a little small but with two Velux windows it was very pretty and really nice shower and bathroom. The bed was comfy and perfect pillows 🥰 .
We had a few drinks in the bar and everywhere is very clean and well decorated.
We had the continental breakfast and there was plenty of choices and it was a nice area to eat in.
For the price I think it was a bargain and plan to visit again in the near future.
Work in progress with gardens and public rooms almost finished and some of the bedrooms completed and both looking fab
Nice size hotel with 12 bedrooms with cozy but stylish public areas commensurate with this number of guests
The restaurant is very good value
Cromford is a lovely village and several other locations within 5 miles are also some of the best in the area
We've already booked to return in 6 weeks time with other family members and looking forward to it
High Tor Hotel was well situated for our visit to the Peak District. The staff kept the restaurant open for us, despite us not deciding to eat at the hotel until 19:45. It would be possible to walk to Matlock or Matlock Bath (1/2mile in each direction). The continental breakfast, included in the price, was reasonably extensive. The family room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.
The interior decoration and facilities were really nice and far better than expected. Rachel has done a wonderful job of setting up the Maisonette. I had a couple of questions and Rachel was always responsive and helpful. The location is very good, its just a five minute walk into the very centre of Matlock.
We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.
Situated between Matlock and Matlock Bath and central for visiting the Derbyshire dales. Within a short walking distance from Matlock bath and it's facilities. Great if your a walker, with walks from door. Clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly hosts, and a great breakfast.
This was a beautiful location with the hotel set in immaculately designed and kept grounds with lovely country views in all directions and yet very close to the village of Cromford, the spectacular gorge of Matlock Bath and the beautiful steep-sided wooded valley of Via Gellia.
The location is really good. Just a few minutes walk into Matlock Bath. Cromford Canal is also near by, and just a 10 minute drive to Bakewell. The hotel is a beautiful building inside and out, surrounded by lovely scenery. The outdoor pool is also well kept.
Situated in the middle of Matlock Bath this is a lovely hotel.
Our hosts made us very welcome and the COVID-19 measures were really good.
I do have to say that the ‘bacon buttie’ along with the ‘porridge’ at breakfast was wonderful 👍😀
The hotel was really nice, the staff were so helpful. Our room was lovely and the pool and gardens were really nice as well. It’s in a great location for exploring Matlock Bath.
Stunning view across the valley, one of the best hotel views I've ever had, friendly happy reception staff, good location for Matlock Bath, beware the steep hill back though.
Dinner was well cooked and presented. Disappointed no cooked breakfast. Never stayed in a hotel that didn't do a
cooked breakfast. Staff very friendly .

A very nice apartment in the centre of Matlock Bath overlooking the river. The apartment was clean, tidy and very well equipped with high-quality items.
