The room was absolutely filthy , only seeing how truly disgusting in the light of day . Dirty bathroom , random pubic hair , grime . Absolute hovel . The staff at breakfast, we had ordered a room call for 9am and the woman barked at us that she called us twice as we got to breakfast at 915am. The phone in the room was dead so that’s why we didn’t get a call . The breakfast was THE WORST I’ve ever had . I asked for well done FRIED eggs. These were done in an oven and I could barely saw into the leather like skin that encased those obliterated yolks . The continental selection was pathetic and stale . Partner had the full English and his egg was snotty and he would truly eat anything but even he couldn’t manage it .
We get back to the room opened the curtains and truly saw how disgustingly filthy this place was . The headboard has more dna on it than a crime scene including what looked like blood splatters and Lord only knows what else . The rest of the room was awful too , filthy. Never slept in a bed so uncomfortable either . I really couldn’t wait to come home and de-flea myself.
Environmental health need to seriously check this place . It’s dirty , it’s damp , the bathroom has a big damp patch on the floor so it has a constant smell of mildew . The walls they have painted over damp so it’s all bubbled . It’s truly disgusting . Whole room was a shambles . Should be renamed the worst western definitely .
Retrain your staff because if a chef hates their job that much that they oven cook a fried egg then that’s a major issue ( and it wasn’t busy either , can now
see why) the woman who greeted us for breakfast was rude . The phone didn’t work. We expected a call and nothing . Hence the lateness . Asked where my toast was was told to make it myself and pointed , new table come in and there’s was served to them . So she definitely was rude for something that wasn’t our doing.

We got a lovely welcome from the owners, welcomed with a drink and we ended up chatting in their beautiful sitting room. It felt like we were staying with family!
The guesthouse is full of period features and the garden is beautiful, unfortunately it was too windy to enjoy it - I know they said that guests eat out there in summer. Breakfast was lovely, served in the dining room with beautiful garden views.

Newark can easily be covered in a weekend.
Newark can easily be covered in a weekend. The National Civil War centre is worth a quick visit as part of the town Civil War Trail. A good range of pubs, bars and eateries and quite a few independent shops and boutiques. Elements of the town are sadly in decline but, with the river, it's still picturesque enough to explore and wander.

It was just a break of journey for us, but there are many dining options a short drive away. We were also told as we left that if we fancied a take away of some sort, we could arrange delivery and Shaan and Sef would set up a table for us to eat it there in comfort. We may well try that next time we stop.

when we arrived we were not very impressed , but after parking and having a nice breakfast we found the town square , then every thing opened up . It was a nice surprise to see what was the market place surrounded by shops . we also had a lovely evening meal in the Ram pub , the food was very good and the service could not have been better. We found that Newark had a lot of history and shall be going back to see more . Would recomend.

Wonderful town to explore.
Wonderful town to explore. Great places to eat and drink and historic places to visit. Plenty of places to stay over and highly recommend the Newark guest house which although just outside of Newark it is only a ten minute taxi drive away. It is a beautiful place to stay.

Absolutely amazing host couldn’t have done anymore for us we were attending an event at Newark Showground perfect location for overnight stay
The breakfast was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble have great advice for eating out and transport to and from the venue
The four legged friends were beautiful and welcoming too thanks a million had a great time
Room was very warm
Gail was the one who received me. She listened and helped me out with everything. She went to the extent of finding and booking cabs for me for every day i stayed successfully. Also, when i had to extend my stay she made sure to sort it out for me even though it was a fully booked hotel the next day. i cant thank enough all the staff for their amazing welcoming. the food was very good.
Lime House is in the perfect place to get to the train and bus stations and into town. Andy, the host, couldn't be more friendly and helpful, and his tips for places to see were great. The extra space and privacy of having a house rather than a hotel room was great for the day I had to work from there, too.
The room unbelievable - has to be seen to be believed!
The breakfast table, the food and the service was equal to any five star hotel
First impressions are lasting impressions - we plan to come back
Great parking - felt safe - lovely lounge - very interesting collections throughout the property
Nearly refurbished self serviced rooms, that felt more like someone's bedroom than a generic hotel.
Great location for town centre.
Lovely view. Spotlessly clean.
Very clear instructions for self check in/parking
The hotel owner "Sai" did his best to find us another hotel room, after he gave away our hotel room to someone else on the day we were due to check in. The Room had been booked 7 months earlier on 22 January 2022
Very clean, cosy and close to the Newark Showgrounds. The warmth and friendliness of Sheila and her staff was absolutely wonderful. If you are attending anything in Newark it is a fantastic location.
The hotel was in a good location very near the centre of Newark. There was plenty of parking on site. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean and modern.
Breakfast was very nice and location was perfect as I was attending an event at the Newark Showground, so only just down the road. Nice, quiet surroundings too.
