The room was clean and tidy, slept well in our room. The room was in a quiet corner of the building. Centrally located to the beach and main shops. The breakfast staff were very polite, helpful and warm. The Scottish breakfast was excellent. We were there only for the weekend.
The Park Hotel - Where the atmosphere & surroundings are as welcoming as the food. Why not go all the way! To Caithness, the land beyond the Highlands and enjoy the hospitality at the Park Hotel.

Room was reasonable for the price. A bit of late street noise, but it was Saturday night after all.

Compact wee town centre with a big Co-op supermarket.
Compact wee town centre with a big Co-op supermarket. People seem genuinely friendly & helpful. A train & bus station, nice beach & Scrabster nearby for ferries to Orkney. Good base for exploring round about & into Sutherland too for the beautiful golden sandy beaches an hour or so away at Armadale, Bettyhill, Torrisdale & Coldbackie. Lots of Stone Age relics to explore too.
A lovely but long journey up by train. Takes about 4 hours from Inverness. Only issues were leaving Thurso by public transport to catch links from Inverness to go further south as just 4 trains a day & nothing after 4.28pm weekdays. No buses seemed to leave Thurso for Inverness after 11.50. Buses take around 3 1/2 hours to Inverness. Good to book taxis as far in advance as possible as get booked up fairly quickly.

Hotel position and friendly staff were good, but the online description of the hotel and facilities was not accurate. Very disappointing.
- room not serviced for three days
- initial room smelly and mouldy
- had to ask for soap and toilet paper
- advertised food items for breakfast not provided
- bath leaked
- no phone in room

Some of the best place to eat in UK.
Some of the best place to eat in UK. Outdoors is its selling point, if King Charles III has a holiday retreat nearby it must be the best in the World. Winter nights are dark and cold with limited night life.

We used Thurso as a jumping off and landing point for the Orkney islands. I wish we had more time in the Thurso area as I believe there is much more to explore. And don't miss the Sri Lankan restaurant in town!! your dinner may take awhile but that's because it is being cooked up fresh.

Thurso is a town that has seen better days, but most people are going to Thurso to visit John O Groats or to catch a ferry, rather than for the town itself. We stayed out of season so did not visit the beach. We enjoyed our walk to Dunnet Head, and spent our 2nd day visiting John O Groats and Wick. We recommend the Thurso Visitor centre / Museum (free entry, but donatiion requested)
We have met some exceptionally kind people in Scotland but none were as nice the owners of this B&B. The airline lost our luggage and they graciously offered to wash our dirty cloths for us and gave us each a sweatshirt. The house was lovely as was the room. They have a very nice, large bathroom. Beautiful views of their garden and the highland cows. Very friendly people if you’d like to socialize. We could not have asked for a better experience. Strongly recommend.
Very easy to find, and there was heaps of free parking available. The real stand out for us was the high quality of our dinner in the restaurant, it was probably the best meal we had during our two week drive around Scotland, and seriously good value too - our expectations were well and truly exceeded. This hotel is very conveniently situated for the Scrabster ferry to Orkney - no use to us on this trip, but we will know for future reference.
It is a fine house, beautifully kitted out for guests, run by nice people. The prices are very reasonable. It is situated in a fine part of the world; a Lightly rolling, lush, green landscape full of locally owned farms. It is a peaceful part of Scotland and provides a fine contrast to the rugged parts of the Highlands with grand views of the Orkney Islands and within a mile or so of the wild beaches of the north coast.
Country house set in grounds with nearby river, falls and associated walks. A cut above most hotels in the this area, with good size rooms decorated in traditional style with modern facilities. Food matches the hotel, with a la carte and tasting menus. Excellent selection of whisky in the bar. Notably good service from a young team. Ideal location for Scrabster ferry (10mins) or exploring the very north of the mainland.
We arrived in a storm and we're greeted warmly with a great welcome. We were upgraded to a huge room that was clean and in excellent working order. Our host Lisa directed is to. Fine restaurant in walking distance. Breakfast at the lodge had a large selection with everything prepared to order and inuded in the price of the room. I will return here the next time I go through Thurso.
Evening Meal of Steak was Delicious. Good to have onsite meals at reasonable prices as Thurso dosent have much to offer in the way of eating out. Breakfast was good & freshly Cooked with plenty of cereals, fresh fruit & yoghurt also available. Off Road Parking for 2 motorcycles was available. (could accomadate more if required) Location is great for Touring Motorcyclists.
We loved our stay at Pentland! The staff was incredibly nice & helpful throughout our stay. The food (both dinner & the included breakfast) were wonderful! We brought 2 dogs with us (one small, one large) & they were treated wonderfully & were very comfortable at the hotel. For the price, you can't beat it!
Despite being a hotel, the twin room we had appeared to be freshly painted and the bathroom clean although shower door not quite working properly. The kitchen and lounge area was clean and large. Internet worked well in that room. The property was cheap and in Thurso, handy to our ferry connection.
Thurso Bay Holiday resort was one of the best holidays we have had. Location was perfect. Views were amazing and the host was superb. We met her whilst staying there and she is very friendly.
Anyone wishing to visit Thurso or surrounding area, I would highly recommend choosing Thurso Bay Holidays.
The Park Hotel was pleasant and comfortable, a good spot for our one-night layover prior to boarding the ferry for Orkney. The location was very convenient, easy to find, and away from the somewhat cramped center of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfy, and neat.
The location was fantastic, overlooking the sea and close to the beach. The rooms were basic but clean and good value for money. The food in the restaurant was a bit expensive for what you got but the beer was cheap and the staff were friendly. Would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
Friendly and welcoming from the very first. The staff here are unbeatable - I wish I could rate them 11! This is not a gimmicky, plastic, modern, luxury hotel - if you want that, go somewhere else. But if you want comfort and personal service, good food and solid value, come here.
The room was stunningly beautiful. The large window overlooking the sea was magnificent. Our host Michael was very friendly and helpful with recommending placed to eat and things to do in the area. The breakfast was one of the best I had in my entire Scotland trip.
We realized that Thurso is a great location for trips to the north and that's why we extended our stay twice here. It is a very spacious apartment with the main amenities you may need. Friendly and helpful owner, too. Really enjoyed our 3-days here. Thank you.
The age of the hotel, so old but well maintained. Such a pleasure to sit in the lobby and enjoy. Bar and restaurant on location and very good food. Glad we picked this one....
