The Bondgate Boutique, hotel in Alnwick

Located centrally within the historic market town of Alnwick, this ‘room only' accommodations offers small bedrooms with private bathrooms.

The room was quite clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay together with my wife. The hotel was very close to town center and Alnwick Castle. All the things surrounding have great atmosphere like old and well preserved buildings, cosy bars and green lands. In the morning we drank our coffees at the space with tables and chairs just in front of the hotel. The hotel manager was also so kind and hospitable.

The Cookie Jar, hotel in Alnwick

Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, The Cookie Jar (Alnwick) was formerly the Convent of Mercy, and is just 0.2 miles from the center of Alnwick.

Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways. The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious. At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience. Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.

Alnwick is a good place to visit and is an ideal base for exploring the area. There are a number of good restaurants and cafes. Alnwick Castle is worth a visit, but don’t bother with Alnwick Gardens as they are small and over priced.

This was our first visit to Alnwick and we've fallen in love! There were so many intriguing and characterful shops to explore and we were spoilt for choice for lovely places to eat. We would whole heartedly recommend eating a SherKhan - some of the best curry we've ever had - and also The Adam and Eve. Dirty Bottles is a fab venue, great for a drink but would skip the very averge food next time.

The castle and gardens were closed but we have been in them before and so we were not disappointed. A walk along the river at the back of the castle is very nice and a good test of your waterproofs and footwear. Hulne park has good walks. Alnwick is a beautiful town. Berwick and Morpeth nearby, complement the area.

Alnwick is an excellent centre for visiting many locations...

Alnwick is an excellent centre for visiting many locations in Northumberland, with lots of scenic coastline and castles on your doorstep. There are plenty of excellent places to eat however if you are going to stay over a weekend I would recommend booking a table in advance as they all get very busy. If you want to book the treetop restaurant book months on advance to avoid disappointment. Alnwick castle and gardens are a must if you have never visited before.

Both The Garden and Castle were well worth the ticket price.

Both The Garden and Castle were well worth the ticket price. Informative tours are available with very knowledgeable staff. Even if you don't take a tour of the castle and wander around yourself, staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have about the history of the castle and gardens . A fantastic place to visit. We popped out for a walk around the town mid visit and had no issue getting back in to the castle afterwards.

What a lovely place we didn't know this hotel we just liked the name but its great, really homely and friendly, There is a mild Harry potter theme to the place being near to Alnwick Castle, in fact is almost next door to it. From the outside it just looks like a terraced building on the street but inside it's had a lot of money spent on the rooms and they are fab. We took advantage of cocktail hour and had a meal there too which was top class, Highly recommended.

The location is close to the Castle grounds and the poison garden! We were keen to see the gardens. The centre of town is a short walk up the road and the book exchange is nearby too. The bar was friendly and gave good service, breakfast, served on the first floor, was really good. We opted to stay in for dinner too, good quality food delivered by cheerful staff. We were very happy that the carpark was there and very close by.

A really comfortable lodge, which was ideal for our short stay in Northumberland. A nice touch to have a pint of milk in the fridge and a few tea bags/sugar/coffee. Everything had been thought about. Location-wise, we made the most of being in Alnwick and so close to the castle. Free parking is close by, as mentioned by others.

Location was great, right in the centre of Alnwick, the castle and grounds were little more than 10 minutes walk away. Parking arrangements were superb with free parking in the car park of a nearby hotel literally 100 metres away. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need. Everything was very clean
