The room was large and comfortably fit a family of five. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant attached to the Inn was delicious and the staff were fantastic.

We were very impressed with the service and had a great stay. We were a bit disappointed with our first room and asked to upgrade to a room in the associated hotel, Washington Central, and this request was granted. As we were on our honeymoon, the front desk even offered us a huge discount on the upgrade to make our stay more special - it was an above and beyond gesture that we appreciated so much. Great service and nice amenities (pool, sauna, hot tub).
In the coastal town of Workington, the friendly Waverley Hotel offers spacious rooms, a bar, Wi-Fi, free parking and good food. The Lake District is a short drive away.

The facilities provided and location/views made our stay memorable. Several supermarkets nearby for our self catering provisions. We ate in our well furnished home/kitchen. It is very easy to get around Great Clifton. Nothing to avoid on our next visit.

Quality in all respects and value for money.
Quality in all respects and value for money. Lots of on site parking. Very friendly staff. Good location for exploring the west coast and western lakes. Stunning sunsets and very close to St.Bees with its secluded beach and coastal walks. Clear views of the Isle of Man and across the Solway Firth.

Lovely room, very clean, food good, just a few niggles, 2 bedside lamps not working, tv remote switched tv on but didn’t work to change channel, possibly needed new batteries?! Forgot peppercorn sauce at dinner and when brought, after we asked, it was lukewarm and very gloopy, certainly not worth the extra £3+. Breakfast was ok though we waited 40 mins, think we’d been forgotten the waitress we’d ordered with actually asked us, when we asked, if we’d ordered!!!
I had emailed the day before arrival to book a table but obviously hadn’t been read, we did get a table though.

The room and facilities were great; perhaps the nicest surprise of all was the standard of food both in terms of preparation and presentation - it was just great.
Close enough to the touristy stuff but far enough away to be in a quiet area untroubled by traffic noise etc.

The road links were very good, Hotel was well suited for going in any direction and was well away from the hustle and bustle of City/Town dwelling. Fabulous views of the Fells particularly as the evening sun was setting, casting its amber glow on the hillsides. Rooms were freshly decorated and had new fittings and fixtures with matching soft furnishing. Brightly lit shower room with plenty of space. Loads of parking spaces and those to the rear were particularly generously spaced. Staff were all very nice and extremely friendly.
The location in the small village of Great Clifton is quiet and charming. I was pleasantly surprised that not once did we see a crowd of roistering boozers, to be honest. The rooms were clean, and the breakfasts were hearty! The dining room has a lovely ambience and decor. The staff are professional, warm, and hardworking people who are excellent with children, and very responsive to guests’ requests for help. Being locals, their knowledge of the Lake District and local bus timetables, etc., came in handy as well.
A lovely hotel, smart and tidy. The staff are brill and very friendly, and the food was excellent …. huge portions. We had a lovely 2 night stay and have already booked to visit again in September. Location for us was perfect, we were travelling back home to Shropshire from Scotland and did a stop over to break the journey up. My husband has family in the area so we used the stay to meet up with them and had a meal at the Old Gunn House. 10 of us booked in for a meal and everything was perfect.
This hotel is situated on its own on the dual carriageway. Surrounded on one side by fields. It’s central location is great for getting to nearby towns and sights. The accommodation block is separate from the hotel. The dining area is clean and fresh and there is ample outside seating and outside dining pods. The breakfast choose was excellent. Evening meal food was of good quality although limited menu. Julie is a great asset to the hotel.
Stunning property with beautiful views. Even though it’s situated near a busy road you really don’t hear the traffic. Peaceful and relaxing, rooms were spotless and staff excellent. Food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone.
Evening meal was very good as was the beer. The breakfast was excellent with a combination of a buffet for toast and cereals and a good option for cooked breakfasts. The hotel was bright, clean with good facilities and excellent parking. Overall great value for money
When I put in”hotels in Coniston” the Old Ginn House Inn came up so I took it at face value & booked it not realising It is about 50 km away from Coniston. Needless to say I was not impressed. Can you please explain how this happened on your website?
Property had considered the heat and provided fans which improved comfort.
Ironing equipment available in corridors.
Amazing service from kitchen and restaurant staff.
All staff friendly, happy and approachable
Would recommend a stay at this hotel.
