An absolute little gem of a place!! Well where to start.. when I say this is an absolute little gem I really mean it, and that is all down to Clare and Craig who run the place to absolute perfection! They really put everything into making sure that their guests are well looked after and that nothing is too much trouble. Firstly, ahead of arrival, you get a link to a web page (the guidebook) with all the information on that you could possibly need during your stay; from check in and out procedures, to local information on eating out, car parking, walking, shopping, activities, to everything and anything else in-between! I loved this! The area is beautiful, with gorgeous views from the house and the village is so peaceful. Just far enough away from Keswick but close enough to get to easily and enjoy the town. We really love Keswick anyway, and Derwentwater too, so the location is just perfect for us! On arrival we were met by Craig who directed us to our parking spot and offered us help with our bags if it was needed. We then headed around to the house and met Clare, whom showed us around. There's a lovely lounge area to relax in, and a bar where you can get a drink on an evening if you wish to. There is tea and coffee in each room with UHT milks, but what I loved was that fresh milk is available as needed too - you just take a little jug to your room from the milk in the fridge! There's also other drinks like hot chocolate, fruit teas, decaf drinks here to help yourself to. The room was lovely and really clean, with comfortable beds too. Smart TV in the room and free WIFI access were a bonus, although we didn't waste much time with technology! If you want any advice or tips on where to go or what to do, don't hesitate to ask Craig - he's full of information and more than happy to help! Clare's cooking skills are amazing too! Her flapjack is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts - set us up well for our days out!

Beautiful home in perfect location. Just a short walk down to the lake The hosts were very gracious and responsive, they spoiled us with a delightful FULL ENGLISH breakfast. We would highly recommend the Rowan Tree Guest House!

The host is wonderful, wanting to make sure your stay is pleasant. Breakfast was delicious with a range of menu options for each day. I liked that Fern Howe Guesthouse works to eliminate waste to help the environment. A wonderful place to stay with beautiful views.

Mat and Leigh were the loveliest hosts, they were so helpful with recommendations for walks around Keswick (and even printed off maps and everything!) and things to go/places to eat in the area. The homemade bakes were delicious and I loved the traditional date loaf I had on my last day in particular! Breakfast was amazing with plenty of alternative options apart from the standard full English (which was also really good), I especially enjoyed the salmon breakfast. The guesthouse was perfectly located, close to town and also a good starting place for various walks around Keswick, which is such a beautiful place. It's the perfect base for someone who wants to visit the Lake district but doesn't/can't drive, there are so many places you can go and walks you can do without a car (and there's always the Launch if you get too tired). My room was lovely, a great place to rest and recover after a long day walking. The bed was also very comfy! Thank you, I had the best time and I hope to be back again soon!

Everything was spot on, first class service and looked after everyone who was staying there. I would recommend anyone to stay there e host were so friendly and helpful . Breakfast was 1st class and hot … room was nice and clean and serviced to good standard , location about 10min walk to town so was idea we wil definitely use again .

What a great stayed we had! The room was so nice and clean and it had everything provided. The view was amazing. Breakfast was lovely and great location only 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Paul was very friendly and helpful with the highlight places to visit. Thank you Paul for made an unforgettable experience for me and my mum, we both had a wonderful time.
