Was a bit dubious when I booked as it seemed such a cheap price... but was actually a really great place. Parking outside, big room with lovely modern bathroom and really close to the beach and cafes.

Set in Durham and within 15 km of Beamish Museum, 40Winks has a terrace, allergy-free rooms, and free WiFi. Great location for exploring Durham on foot. Comprehensive breakfast. Slight issue with convenience for parking car. Would be nice to have Netflix or similar on TV.

Located in Middleton in Teesdale, Brunswick House features a bar. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are available at the guest house free of charge. Charming, comfortable, quiet. Good art and old style pottery, white woodwork, cozy. Beatrice Potter would have been right at home.

Set in Shotley Bridge and with Beamish Museum reachable within 23 km, The Manor House Inn offers a garden, allergy-free rooms, free WiFi and a bar. A family run business who make you feel warm and welcome from the time you book until you leave. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the local area. I feel I have to mention the very high standard of food. Its not the run of the mill bar food here. Its food fitting of a Manor house. I only wish we had stayed longer to try everything on the menu. All very reasonably priced as well. Real ale behind the bar and an open log fire. Large selection of drinks and food all day and the breakfast was spot on. Whether you are looking for a place to stay or after a meal with a proper local feel then you won't be let down if you give the Manor House a try. Well worth a visit.

Set in Barnard Castle, Homelands Guest House is a historic guest house that offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden and a shared lounge. I loved the style of the decorations. Even though I only stayed for 2 nights I enjoyed my stay at Homelands. Because my flight got delayed, I couldn't arrive at the check-in hour. The owners were so kind and gave me and upgrade for a room I could easily acces when coming late. Also the food at breakfast was delicious and you could order in advance what you want so you wouldn't have to wait for it in the morning.

Located in Darlington and with Middlesbrough Cathedral reachable within 22 km, The Devonport provides express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi and a bar. The rooms, food and service were all fantastic - really enjoyed our stay!

Sea View Guest House is a beachfront property set in Hartlepool, 200 metres from Seaton Carew Beach and 40 km from Stadium of Light. Warm welcome of host was a pleasure.
