Located in rural North Northumberland midway between Berwick upon Tweed and Alnwick, Millers Cottage is a Grade 2 listed building lovingly restored to create a modern, comfortable and peaceful holiday location. A stone throw from a National Park, Holy Island to the Cheviot Hills and all the wonderful sandy beaches North Northumberland has to offer. The accommodation is the perfect mix of new and old with some historic in there too; it comprises of: - •A modern contemporary kitchen and diner with range cooker, and built in dishwasher and washing machine; •Spacious lounge boasting the original range fireplace and hearth. Once the central part of the home, it now has a comfortable feel while relaxing in front of the log burning stove (a basket of wood is supplied for your stay), and watching TV; •Modern, clean and contemporary bathroom, with large walk in shower, heated towel rail and underfloor heating; •2 bedrooms, both with king size beds. Bedroom 1 has the option to split the bed to create 2 singles, an additional 3rd pull out bed to suit a child is also available in this room (by prior direct arrangement); •Sleep 5 maximum; •Gardens with comfortable outside seating/dining area in a south facing position along with a raised decking area for viewing of countryside and wildlife around. Millers Cottage is set in the grounds of Holburn Mill Farmhouse which is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with views of farm land and hills. It's the perfect location and is very popular with walkers and wildlife lovers. On an evening you could just spend hours looking up into the clearest dark skies, while listening to the owls hooting.

The Millers Cottage is the former house of the Miller that worked the water driven Corn Mill and land around us. Financially more successful, the farmhouse was then built in 1894; we don’t have an actual date that the cottage was built but it’s at least 130 years since it was lived in. Slightly less comfy than it is today, and with fewer people, as the census information suggested that at least 8 people lived here! The original range in the living room will have seen some action from cooking, heating to water warming. I wonder how many bare bottoms it’s seen over the years when the tin bath was in front of it! Millers Cottage has Grade 2 listed status. 2018 planning permission was granted, and work began in 2019, the entire building needed to be gutted from the roof to the floors. 2019 saw a year of building work, bringing electricity and water to it for the first time, and introducing modern comforts like heating and a bathroom. Opening our doors to guests for the first time in June 2020, we all will gloss over the year that became 2020, but going forward I welcome you to enjoy your time with us.

Millers Cottage is ideally located within a rural location to explore both Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Situated midway between the ancient market towns of Berwick Upon Tweed and Alnwick. We are on several well known walks like the St Cuthbert Way & St Oswald's Way, making it an ideal location for walkers and cyclists. We are 6 miles from Wooler which leads into the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. The outstanding Northumberland Coastline is also nearby.
