The Board Inn was established in 1742 and is situated on the bank of the river Esk, in the village of Lealholm, with the surrounding heather of the North Yorkshire Moors’ National Park. The Board Inn is a quaint country pub, which is loved by both village locals and visitors. We have 5 spacious, modern rooms available. Please note that the pub is closed on Mondays and we only serve evening meals on Friday & Saturdays.

Lealholm is a beautiful little village set on the banks of the River Esk, in the heart of the North York’ Moors’ National Park. Ideally situated to explore the surrounding area with nearby villages such as Rosedale and Helmsley, located a short drive over the moors, historic fishing villages including Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood’s Bay and the famous fishing port of Whitby with links to Captain Cook and the world renowned Whitby Abbey. Lealholm is linked to Whitby and Middlesbrough via the Esk Valley Railway which stops at most villages in the Esk Valley including Danby, which hosts the Moors Visitors Centre - a great family experience promoting the North York’ Moors’ National Park, and Grosmont where the longest private steam railway links the Esk Valley with Goathland (Aidensfield on TV’s Heartbeat) and then on to Pickering. For those wishing to take advantage of the fantastic walking, cycling or riding routes the moors offers an abundance of well marked footpaths and bridle-ways linking most of the villages in the Esk Valley and beyond.
