Stony Stratford
Situated on the High Street in the charming market town of Stony Stratford, this historic 15th-century coaching inn offers bright, airy accommodation with free Wi-Fi and tasty food.
The Cock became famous in the great age of coach travel. Travellers staying at the hotel and at the adjacent Bull inn would compete with each other in telling outrageous tales of the road. It is from this that the famous phrase “a Cock and Bull Story” derives.
The bed was very comfortable. The room was nice for an old property. The staff was friendly.
Milton Keynes (Near Stony Stratford)
The Swan Revived Hotel is a former Coaching Inn dating back to the 15th century, situated in the heart of the quaint Buckinghamshire town of Newport Pagnell; just two miles from junction 14 of the M1 and 5 miles from central Milton Keynes.
We were impressed with the staff and service.. They were welcoming and attentive. The food and service were excellent. We went back several days for morning coffee and Sunday dinner after we had checked out. We enjoyed drinks outside at the bar. The rooms were large clean and comfortable especially considering it is a 15th century coaching inn. The location is in the heart of the town. Walking distance to everything. We could happily have stayed longer.
