Obviously centres around Shakespeare but also excellent venue for exploring Warwickshire countryside. Good canal walks, river cruises etc. Lots of places to eat and good range of shops. Best visited out of season when it is not too crowded
Stratford-upon-Avon is a great location for a short break. There are plenty of Shakespeare-related things to see in the town. We went on a Shakespeare town walk with a very knowledgeable guide to see the highlights. There are a wide range of restaurants to suit all pockets. We ate in the Garrick Inn, Loxley's and the Waterside Brasserie at the Arden Hotel. All had imaginative menus with an good range of choices. We also used Stratford-upon-Avon as a base to explore the North Cotswolds - Chipping Campden and Broadway - and Warwickshire - Warwick Castle and Baddesley Clinton.
Our room was on the ground floor of the annex. The room was of a very good standard, equal to a good hotel room. The bed was king sized and comfortable. The breakfast offerings were varied, something to suit every one. The full English was generous, anyone who does not have a large appetite should order the optional small size. Our evening meal was very good, chicken and bacon pie for me; slow-cooked lamb for my wife, all washed down with beers from the Purity Brewery, here in Warwickshire.
During our stay at Warwickshire Park Hotel, we appreciated the range of amenities and the comfort of the beds. The rooms were spacious, airy, and well-equipped, with tea and coffee facilities and TV. The hotel had made efforts to preserve the building's period features and character. Warwickshire Park Hotel offers good value for money, particularly for a one-night stopover. Very friendly staff.
