Birr
The location of The Ring Farmhouse was perfect for me since I was roaming around Ireland from Mayo over Kerry and Cork to Kildare, Kilkenny and Tipperary as well as Offaly. I was made welcome by Carmel and Sean in a way I never expected and Carmel's breakfast was just heavenly. The Ring Farmhouse was Paradise coming back from some exhausting trip. If I had questions about country or anything else related to Ireland I always got a comprehensive answer. I never felt like a tourist or guest.
The staff were very polite and the room spacious and elegant. The position was first rate with the castle at one end of the street, a church at the other and lovely Georgian houses in between. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices. There was also plentiful safe free parking on the street outside. A walk in the castle grounds is recommended.
The bed was very comfortable. Loved the shower. Accommodated our late check in.
When we arrived, the host gave us a lift to the distillery. Upon return, he also directed us to a very nice place for an excellent evening meal. Breakfast was wonderfully presented. We would highly recommend to anyone.
