The location is perfect, rolling hills, a beaufiful wooded valley, and a converted barn with original wooden beams. The cottage provides everything you need for breakfast with facilities to cook your own meals including essentials like cooking oil and condiments. The bed is very comfortable, and has a large TV with Sky (inc. Sports). There is good wifi so you won't miss not having a phone signal. Nancy is very generous and friendly, and offered fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden.

It was the best hotel we stayed at on our walking holiday (and the others were pretty good). Restaurant staff were efficient and very personable. Breakfast was outstanding. The full English was excellent as was the smoked haddock. Sourdough toast and home-made marmalade and jam. Dinner was very convivial and delicious. I would make a detour to visit the hotel just for the food.
