On a recent trip to England to visit friends and sightsee, it was recommended we visit the town of Ross-on Wye, so we booked the Bridge House for two nights. If I had to choose between what we liked best--the accommodations, hosts, location or breakfasts--I'm not sure I could. All were outstanding, and we would not hesitate to stay again. The room offered a gorgeous view across the garden and river to the town, dominated by the church steeple. Everything in it was beautifully appointed and thoughtful, and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely linens. Breakfast? Heavenly, served in the light and airy dining room with options chosen the night before, so no delays in serving time. Hosts Katherine and Kevin were SO welcoming, and when we asked for a suggestion for a hike, immediately provided a map and detailed instructions that were spot on. The hike is one of our favorite memories of the trip. They also recommended the pub directly across the street on our first night there since we didn't want to go far. We sat outside by the river and had a hearty, delicious dinner. However, the walk into town is quick and easy too, along an idyllic path along the river and through a park. We had a terrific dining experience on our second night at the Italian restaurant in town. Our stay at Bridge House was one of our favorite stops in a 10-day trip. Don't hesitate to book here. Sheila and Guy have a fabulous home that they kindly let you share. A warm fire with tea and homemade apple cake greeted us. Brownies and ample tea, coffee and fresh milk in our room. Warm, fluffy towels, comfortable bed. Homemade breads, jams, breakfast that is exceptional. The hosts honestly made the three night trip so relaxing and welcoming. We cannot remember the last time we felt so well looked after without it feeling intrusive. Exceptional, they deserve the high praise. We will be back!

We liked everything. The room was good, bed very comfortable. Wonderful views from a picture window. Very interesting venue, a 17th century coaching inn. Lovely lady running it, very friendly, excellent cook, breakfast was very generous. I had scrambled eggs on toast and my husband had most of a full English. There were also packets of cereal. Tea, coffee, orange juice, extra toast. Good informative book of the room and we had an excellent supper at a nearby Italian restaurant

The breakfasts were excellent and the evening meal was delicious. Presentation was spot on and the dining room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. More country Manor than Inn feel. Plenty of staff and talented chef - fabulous homemade ice-cream. Courtyard garden with covered terrace lovely, and practical, it is on the Welsh border after all! Goodrich Castle is a stroll away with spectacular views.
