The accommodations were impeccable. Our room was elegantly decorated, offering a cozy ambiance that invited relaxation. The clean and cozy bedding ensured a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the tranquil surroundings was a rejuvenating experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious breakfast served each morning. Prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, each dish was a culinary delight. Featuring a shared lounge and views of garden, Lily Hill Farm is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Barnard Castle, 8.4 km from Bowes Museum. An idyllic setting with a warm welcome, a wonderfully comfortable bedroom and a superb breakfast. Karen is a great hostess and we were only sorry that we weren't able to stay more than the one night on our way to Scotland. We recommend Lily Hill Farm without hesitation - but hurry, because Karen is talking of retiring soon.

A family run business who make you feel warm and welcome from the time you book until you leave. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the local area. I feel I have to mention the very high standard of food. Its not the run of the mill bar food here. Its food fitting of a Manor house. I only wish we had stayed longer to try everything on the menu. All very reasonably priced as well. Real ale behind the bar and an open log fire. Large selection of drinks and food all day and the breakfast was spot on. Whether you are looking for a place to stay or after a meal with a proper local feel then you won't be let down if you give the Manor House a try. Well worth a visit.
