It is absolutely gorgeous here and while we had to walk further on our hike today to get here, we are rewarded with being right next to the start of the trail. There are many hammocks to relax in, alpacas to admire and cute dogs as well (Axle and Lucas). The hosts are incredibly kind, accommodating and patient. It was really such a pleasure to spend time with them. They also have a Turkish Bath and Sauna which were relaxing after a long day of hiking. Dinner was delicious!! There is a wood stove in the common area which is so lovely and warms the dining room during dinner. The decor is stunning and there’s music played in the dining room that provides a wonderful ambience. They have wine and beer and snacks available for purchase as well as lunch boxes. Our room had a stunning Mountain View and an amazing bathroom with really hot showers! This was a good spot to stay if you’re planning on doing Cotopaxi and quilotoa! It is right near the centre which was easy to get around and lots of restaurants and shops around. The owner was a guide so he has soo many tips and tricks to help you save money on the excursions. He has maps of quilotoa that show trails that aren’t on maps.me which we really loved! He was so informative! I highly recommend staying here for the information. Also there’s a tiny white dog named Loki who is super sweet and friendly :)

We had the best stay at El Trapiche! It’s a wonderful family run establishment with lots of personal touches from the welcome smoothie to including us in local events in the village. Delicious dinner available for $3pp and breakfast was also substantial! You can tell there is real passion for Ecuador and the local town! Perfect stay before starting the Quilotoa loop.
The room was very clean with a nice view and had an amazing full shower with hot water and massage settings! Very comfortable bed, too. The staff were very very nice - unfortunately I got bitten by one of the dogs from the village and the staff drove my to see a local doctor and also offered to drive my to Quilotoa for a fee as I could not finish rest of my hike.
The hotel is in the centre of the village. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They were so welcoming and warm. They even make a fire for us in the living room. The food was really nice! Very tasty and big portions (especially if you compare it to the other famous hotel in Quilatoa) they made me a broccoli burger which was delicious 😊😊 We loved everything ☺️☺️
The meals at Dona Clarita were excellent and yummy, the staff super friendly, helpful, and extraordinarily welcoming. This being a somewhat smaller hostal than some of the others in the village, I really liked the family atmosphere and the way in which everyone takes care of the guests.
A wonderful stay. Jose and the staffs are genuinely taking care of you, before and after your trip. They gave us detailed guidance how to reach there, and what to do during the hike to the Quilotoa. It is beautiful scenic road that you should not be missed. We also experienced the horse back riding to the cloud forest and villages! It is a beautiful experience, highly recommended!
Great breakfast! Good Wifi too :) Nice view on the mountains, away from the village. Comfy beds, also hammocks!
A very comfortable hostal in a beautiful location on the Quilatoa Loop route. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great and the village is lovely (beautiful for sunrise and sunset). Wish we could have stayed an extra night!
When travelling to a small village like Chugchilan our expectations were modest- and that's what this place was. So no heat except in main lodge (like everywhere in Ecuador), but plenty of blankets in room, lighting in rooms were lousy, but we bring reading lights, and I could nitpick on other things. But the people were great, and it was a few feet from the Quilotoa trek, which is why we were there. Overall it was good.
