There is a range of attractions to suit all tastes.
There is a range of attractions to suit all tastes. If you like history, there are self guided audio trails, museums devoted to the naval history and military signficance of the napoleonic and first and second world war. I came for the photographic opportunities, with massive container ships, sailing boats and the potential for glorious sunrises over the ocean. It does look a bit run down in places and I was a bit apprehensive, but everyone was very friendly, and I would sum it up as an unspoilt gem, from an earlier, more relaxed era.PaulUnited Kingdom - 4.0Scored 4.0

Some lovely old buildings surrounded by industrial complexes. Every horizon you can’t avoid the super tank loading cranes and other industries. If your a real ale fan, unfortunately there is very little. The Hanover burnt down so the owners opened a pop up beer shop near by. It was the only decent pint I could find. The Alma bar and rooms had an excellent atmosphere and food, but the beer is dreadful and expensive.

I had no idea until we spent some time there yesterday what an interesting and historic place Harwich is. Was particularly moved by the sculpture of the "kindertransport" children by the halfpenny pier (Jewish children sent by their parents from the NL to the UK to save them from the concentration camps).
