Selkirk Arms Hotel, hotel in Kirkcudbright

This historic, 18th-century townhouse is in the heart of the harbor town of Kirkcudbright, a 15 minute drive from Galloway National Park. It features two cozy restaurants and a bar.

Our room and seemingly the whole hotel has been newly renovated. The staff were excellent and the Scottish breakfast was one of the best I've ever had! We also had our three dogs with us and there were welcome.

Kirkcudbright Holiday Apartments - Apartment C, hotel in Kirkcudbright

Featuring a garden, Kirkcudbright Holiday Apartments - Apartment C offers accommodations in Kirkcudbright. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

This was once a residential care facility that is being retro-fitted as seven individual flats, using modern fixtures and neat furniture - much from IKEA. And they really are self-contained and could be lived in long term - and come equipped with kitchen basics in terms of both tools and the kinds of ingredients you don't want to buy at every stop: pepper, oil, tea, coffee, milk, sugar. There's a full stove, dishwasher, and a smart TV. It's a very nice development and in a wonderful position, within walking distance to all that downtown Kirkcudbright has to offer - with two supermarkets, multiple take-out food outlets, countless galleries, and lovely gift and flower shops. If you're coming for a family occasion, call ahead to Lily Knowles Flowers and ask for Adele. Access is by easy electronic codes and a lockbox for the key, so arrival times are flexible - which can be a blessing given how hard it can be to predict cross country trips in Scotland. Kirkcudbright is also the home of Scottish Photography Hides which is well worth checking out for their award worthy professional photography opportunities. Just a neat location overall.

Kirkcudbright seems a small village / town but it has a library, museum, swimming pool, tennis courts, post office and many independent shops. It also has a marina and is an active fishing harbour. It has styled itself as anArtists Town but I did not explore this side of Kirkcudbright. It is also a dark skies area and has a dark skies planetarium. In short I think there is something for everyone.

Kirkcudbright is a great wee town.

Kirkcudbright is a great wee town. Plenty of cafes, galleries and things to do both in the town and its surrounds. It is a great place if you are interested in art and the countryside is fantastic to explore by car or bike if you are feeling fit. Broughton house was our favorite paid for attraction and the Kirkudbright gallery our favourite free one. We would also highly recommend a trip to the Red Kite centre at feeding time for an amazing display of avian aerobatics.

We were there to explore family history and had a car. That took us to the small villages and farms around Kirkcudbright, and all of that was lovely - the countryside, seaside, farmlands were all wonderful.

A very pretty small town with plenty of good cafes and restaurants. Highlight for us was the Solway Tide Cafe - gorgeous cakes and scones and really nice coffee. No shortage of galleries, museums, great local walks and friendly locals.

Charming old hotel. Looks a bit dated but it is old. It is well located in Kirkcudbright and no parking problems - outside the hotel or across the road always available. Enjoyed sitting on the footpath out the front with a drink and chips watching the local community. Room 8 was large for a hotel room and the bathroom was extra large. Window looks out on the Celtic cross and park across the road. All staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist. The tariff was good compared with other bookings in the UK.

Great spot and perfect setting for the historic romance of Kirkcudbright. The stairs weren't easy with a heavy case but once in the nook, you had space, beautifully presented, views and every amenity you could imagine, then more. Minor query was immediately resolved and even the neighbours are lovely. My relos, who live locally, were most impressed and will recommend this place over the hotels they usually suggest.

Our trip was for the purpose of going to Galloway where my McClellan and Seaton family originated. A lifetime wish. I initially chose the Kirkcudbright Bay Shore Hotel because of its close proximity to MacLellan Castle. Our hosts, Lisa and Nish made our stay most memorable in their historic and tastefully restored property. The food was exquisite and some of the best on our wonderful journey. Salute to the chef 👨‍🍳

The cottage was spotless and it was like home from home. Kirkcudbright is such a friendly place that you don’t want to leave. The town is like one of those Christmas films with all the little independent shops. So many places to visit with breathtaking scenery that you need several days here. The hosts were excellent. Good Wi-Fi, warm comfy beds and everything was within walking distance.

The cottage was big, spacious and very well equipped. Although on a farm on the edge of Kirkcudbright, it was quiet and peaceful. The cottage has been furnished and laid out very comfortably -- the view from the upstairs living room is fabulous, just right for a cup of tea after the day's excursions! Very comfortable beds, and towels provided, everything beautifully clean.

Great location, with all you need a short walk away. Kirkcudbright is a super centre for exploring this corner of Scotland. The garden is a bonus, although the weather when we stayed was not great for sitting outside. I wish we could have stayed longer! The host was very helpful when we had a couple of small problems which were easily solved.

The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. The village and hotel are easy enough to get to with a bit of planning. The hotel is very central in the village. The village itself is very handy for getting to some wildlife hides nearby.
