The Farmhouse at Redcoats, hotel in Stevenage

Between Hitchin and Stevenage, The Farmhouse at Redcoats offers home-cooked food and cozy bedrooms.

Easy to get to, plenty of parking, busy on arrival due to Sunday lunches, was very quiet in the evening. Had a bar meal which was excellent and service very good. But a very limited menu due to the main restaurant being closed on Sunday evening. Bed was very comfy and had a good shower with big fluffy towels. Room was large and comfortable. Could do with a second easy chair for sitting whilst watching TV. Breakfast was freshly cooked and great choice of fresh fruit and cereal and pastries.

Staff at reception , Ruchitha plus F & B Staff, Laura were really helpful when I was really anxious about the food and water situation after 12 o’clock midnight, as I say food and water are a necessity not a luxury, small things that are easily rectified, Thank Adam M Hartfree, Director LTD Live the dream Ltd

The size of the rooms are too small.

The size of the rooms are too small. I requested for two single bed rooms of which only one room was made available. The corridor is dirty and smelling. There was complementary bottle water which was being said that we had to purchase. Never again would I book Ibis as it does not suit for purposes and far beyond expectations.

Driving from Scotland to visit my sister in hospital so no other comments had a take-away from the Golden Siam restaurant very expensive and not true Thai cooking having lived in Thailand for 12 years I am more than qualified to judge. If we have to visit again I hope that it will not be at the hospital.

We were in Stevenage specifically to visit with our daughter, husband and new grand-daughter. We loved that we could easily get around town with Uber. There was a small market area within walking distance of where we stayed with a little pub for breakfast and a Tesco Express. I have been to Knebworth House which you really should not miss. It is a lovely, stately old historical home in the area and was very nice to visit particularly if you are a history buff.

Perfect geographical location to the train station, the old town, the town centre, the various leisure & commercial parks from every sides and just 5 mins drive to the Knebworth House (worth visiting by the way). The hotel is well spaced in the lobby (nice restaurant and bar as well). The room was on point with ample light, space and freedom to move around. The black out curtains really helped to sleep like a baby. Room service and house keeping really cater for your needs. Overall very pleased!

Easy reach of parking, although this is an additional cost. I felt reasonably safe given that it is in the middle of Stevenage and there are a lot of louts hanging about the town centre constantly using mobile phones and following people. Breakfast is availble from 6:30 even on Sundays, which is great. The attitude of the staff is uncomplicated and helpful.

When there was a little confusion surrounding the location and PIN of the key storage box, the host was extremely helpful when I called for assistance. It was also very well placed, in terms of walking to the old town, shopping area and train station. I managed to get free street parking on the road directly outside property's carpark.

We needed to have breakfast before 7.30 and asked if we could help ourselves to the buffet. They said no and we saw lots of people in the bar area doing the same. We were not allowed to sit at a table in the restaurant to eat our breakfast before 7.30. I found this very unhelpful.

Excellent stay as always. Norma is a very accomodating host and her place is the best place to stay in Stevenage by a country mile. Great self contained sink, fridge, microwave and kettle to ensure you don't spend money eating out.
