We arrived very late and yet the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was large and comfortable, very clean. Everything seemed newly refurbished and lovely. The breakfast was fabulous! One of the best I've had.

Fantastic location and views, lovely big room, bathroom and bed, great shower. Although breakfast not provided, as well as the usual tea & coffee etc, we did have a fridge, toaster, plates and cutlery in the room so could make our own.
Ullapool Youth Hostel, located on Ullapool seafront, offers views over Loch Broom and the Beinn Dearg mountain range. Rooms in the hostel vary in size, including private rooms.
Great little spot with good vibes. The town itself is small but the whole area had a buzz about it. The scenery is amazing. I would definitely visit again. It helped that it was 27 degrees and the sun was shining.

Ullapool is on the route of the famous Route NC500.
Ullapool is on the route of the famous Route NC500. It's the perfect one night stop on the route. Ullapool is quaint, small, full of gift shops and the stunning "seaford" restaurant where I can highly recommend their fish and chips! Lovely little town - easy to walk around, you don't need to stay longer than the one night stop as the adventure of the NC500 continues!

Ullapool was cute and the views over the water special. Interesting watching the ferries leave and come in from the islands. We were very lucky when we were there as the sun was shining and it was warm.

Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time...
Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time there and we will definitely stay at "The Wreck" or "The Ruin" on our next trip. The location is right beside the Sea Loch about 1-mile north of Ullapool on the A835 (probably walkable in the longer daylight). On our first night into Ullapool we came across a great "dog friendly" pub/restaurant called The Ceilidh and we liked the place and the friendly staff and a good menu - we ate there each evening.
The houses in Ullapool are laid out in a fishing village style and east to get around ... hunting down the Tesco Food Store was a challenge So i had to use Google Maps (lol).
Sadly, visiting Ullapool in Late February means that many place are closed but there was enough to occupy us, and of course plenty to do in and around the area:
* Ullapool Hill
* The Bothy Cafe every morning (you can sit in too)
* The Ceilidh Pub each night
* Northerly road trips to:
- Scourie Bay
- Balnakeil Bay
- Durness
- Smoo Caves
* Southern and Western road trips to:
- Applecross
- Corrieshalloch Gorge (is a must do)

Ullapool surprised us, it was not as big as we expected but, that is not a negative, it is a beautiful little town. We had the best fish and chips from a take away. We bought books in a lovely book store near the hotel. The people are lovely and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay there in a beautiful hotel.

Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour...
Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour where the Stornaway Ferry departs twice a day. It is a very picturesque spot. People are very friendly. The Caladonian hotel has a good restaurant and a lovely tearoom for lunches and snacks. There are several places to enjoy local seafood. I stayed at the Millview B&B which was a short walk from the ferry, and walking distance to the local supermarket. It was a great place and Dawn was a terrific host. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed and bedding were very comfortable.
The hotel may not be the most pre-possessing from the outside but welcome from Alan was so warm, featuring shortbread and whisky and advice about the area. We had been sent an email ‘warning’ us that the room was small. These people have not been to a London hotel! The room was absolutely fine, compact but not cramped. Fabulous view of the loch. Super clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of Ullapool. I will return!
As described Ardlair is a really well appointed B&B, with wonderful views over Loch Broom.
The room was very clean and glamorous on a par with a 4 star hotel. Due to current COVID restrictions there wasnt a breakfast available but there was an option for a continental meal and plenty of breakfast snacks and coffees. I loved the wee decanter of whisky, much needed after a long drive.
Thank you for a great place to base our break in Ullapool.
Very friendly staff and allowed me to store my luggage before check-in and after check-out. I last stayed here 15 years ago and it wasn't as nice as it is now. Although there are bunk beds, the mattresses were comfortable. It is the most reasonable in terms of nightly rates to stay in Ullapool now, especially most of the other hotels and B&Bs have put their rates up to about 110%.
Hotel perfectly located just off A835. Great views over Ullapool . A warm friendly welcome and my request for sunshine was granted and the additional request to see an Eagle was granted at 06.50 the following morning ! The breakfast was excellent quality and the choices were top rate making this a top quality hotel and warrants a repeat visit for sure.
It has a great location looking out across the Ullapool harbour to the mountains beyond We were able to park right outside the hotel. Check-in at the bar was quick with helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet after the bar closed at 11pm. Good wifi. A healthy breakfast was included in the price.
Ideal location on route NC500, motorcycle parking at the rear of the hotel, good breakfast, room clean and spent a quiet relaxing comfortable night. Staff very friendly and polite. I will use again on my next planned trip through Ullapool. Fish and chips from the local chippie!
The location is perfect. Great view of the loch. The rooms are large and comfortable and clean. The food at the restaurant was very good. The service was excellent. And we were able to hear live music in the bar. Would highly recommend staying at The Royal Hotel.
Fortunately our room had a view over the Loch and Ullapool harbour. Their sister hotel The Ferry Boat, just across the road, provided good breakfasts and an evening meal. The staff worked hard to compensate for the mess at The Argyll.
The hotel is a 2/3 minute walk from the Main Street of Ullapool which is a pleasant walk through town, The choice of breakfast food was excellent and will cover most people’s need, and the staff were excellent
Loved this B&B. Great location in Ullapool, easy walk to restaurants, shops and ferry. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Delicious fresh cooked breakfast and tea service in the rooms. Great hosts.
Location was excellent at one end of Ullapool so you could walk the length of the small town easily. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, both of which were very tasty and excellent service
Staff welcome was very warm
Hotel was modern
Hotel provided good suggestions of trails
Breakfast was excellent
The living room was easily available and comfortable
Wonderful hotel in the center of Ullapool, a lively village in a gorgeous valley cove. Clean rooms, comfy beds, fine breakfast, what more could you ask for?
