At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.
The Wheel at Southbank is lovely, as is the whole area.

It's late May & still warm enough to wear shorts & Tee shirts. The City is not as big as Sydney & Melbourne, but the Pubs & restaurants are just as good as those cities. The Area under the Storey Bridge is nice to visit for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Ferry rides on the river & bike rides along the river are highly recommended.

Lots to see and do for everyone.
Lots to see and do for everyone. Weather was fantastic and if you have a car you can explore far and wide. If you have no car, walking or public transportation will get you to most places.
I can highly recommend:
Southbank - beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. Playgrounds for children, spaces to eat, exercise, relax or just enjoy the view.
Northshore Eat City - fantastic atmosphere, exceptional variety of food, drink and live entertainment. great to see so many families enjoying this space.
Mount Tambourine - gallery walk is worth the drive, as is the scenery.
The tree walk at Mt Tambourine was very relaxing and such a beautiful area.
The outback spectacular is a must see, the food alone was exceptional, but coupled with the show - it is well worth it.
Australia Zoo is another must see attraction, it is an immense area that takes a full day to enjoy - take your walking shoes, waterbottle and hat. The animals are well cared for in beautifully constructed areas, with, staff that are approachable, knowledgeable and well trained to care for the animals.
Suncorp Stadium is another place that is well worth a view, especially if you are interested in event that is happening.

Brisbane is a bustling city, with lots of options to entertain yourself.
We did use public transport to broaden our view of the city and was pleasantly surprised how clean the city and its amenities were. The entertainment precinct was great, and lots of entertainment on offer.
The ferry trip with the Citycat was an excellent way to see the town centre from start to finish, and well recommended.
The park next to Queensland University was excellent, and great amount of history with the government house, and awesome bridge back towards South Bank and several museums.
For quiet drinks and great food, Fish Lane with outdoor bar, and excellent Julius Italian restaurant.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Brisbane. The rooms are immaculate and onsite parking is available at a very reasonable rate. Set on a quiet corner in the heart of Fortitude Valley, the hotel's location is perfect - just a few hundred metres from the entertainment precinct and China Town while also an easy walk or scoot to the CBD, riverside cafes and shopping area of Queen Street Mall. I will definitely be staying here again!
We needed a comfortable place to stay for a few nights following my discharge from Mater Private Hospital in Brisbane. The Capitol Apartments were a great choice as they had everything we needed to rest and recharge in peace. The staff were also accommodating, allowing us to check-in early. The location is close to the Mater Hospital but would also suit those visiting Brisbane for leisure as the apartments are right next to Southbank.
absolutely loved signature street art integrated into architecture - this bold statement of confidence in the heart of Brisbane city, practised by great reception staff, nothing too hard for weary travellers and so close to Fortitude Valley dining and retail expressive of great Aus design.. wonderful way meet the city of Brisbane for the first time
Will definitely recommend to friends and family
everything and more in this beautiful breath taking views of Brisbanes CBD easily routed to where I needed to get too rooms were good sized and very quiet the breakfast buffets definitely a must when staying and the staff were absolutely warm and welcoming with a touch of quirky humor loved it definitely a must stay when visiting 10/10
We arrived quite early and the receptionist was kind enough to let us store our luggage while waiting for check in. Overall, the location was dead at night. But it was just a few stops away from CBD so no issue. Also, it was convenient for us to utilise the free shuttle bus and the bus stop was located just opposite of the hotel.
This accommodation is perfect if you want to walk the city of Brisbane. You have easy access to the river, the botanical garden, Southbank and the CBD. You can walk as far as you want, and use city cats to go even further. A comfortable if older hotel, but the staff are friendly and professional and the facilities are good.
Excellent location if going to QPAC. Awesome restaurants and pubs close by - LOVE Southbank Beer Garden and The Pig & Whistle. Beautiful walk across Victoria Bridge over to Brisbane CBD - beautiful breakfast at The Pancake Manor, be sure to book though! The view of the river and city was spectacular.
The beds were great - quality linen, comfy pillows.
Location was great. The current building works close by making getting to the hotel a little tricky, but the CBD is in close proximity, as is Southbank, restaurant district, and cultural centre. We walked just about everywhere.
Lovely beds and spacious enough rooms. The Wifi worked well and was easy to connect. It was nice and quiet where we were, which was good. The location to Brisbane CBD and City Hall was perfect and there is a BWS and a Woolies Metro across the street.
Great location for exploring Brisbane CBD, Sothbank and West End. We have stayed at the Riverside Hotel Southbank many times and would return again for the location and service ... One of the few hotels with onsite parking available in this area.
We loved the complimentary breakfast included with our room and the hotel's location in the CBD area. The room was clean, had a wonderful view and assisted us with our needs. The hotel has a gym and laundry room which was also very handy.
Excellent location close to CBD , & within walking distance of everything of interest, Southbank , restaurants , botanical gardens, & generally a shopping paradise . Brisbane has definitely become my favourite city to visit .
Hotel interior is beautiful and the rooms are.excellent, overlooking the CBD and Brisbane River, as well as Southbank.
Close to CBD shopping and restaurants. Bed was the comfiest bed I've ever slept on.
The location is ideal! Absolutely stunning view! Close to Southbank and ferry stop if wanting to travel to CBD or other areas of Brisbane. Pool facility was fantastic with BBQ facility and a view :)
The apartments were fit for purpose, in a great location for our activity and we will definitely being using them again when we need to stay in Brisbane for an over night or weekend getaway.
Location is amazing right in the center of CBD. Parking was a big plus as well for that central place.
Super friendly staff and a little dive into Brisbanes history.
