Location was good for us. But for those with mobility concerns it is on the valley side so slopes and steps to get to town.

A great example of a northern mill town but not the main reason for visiting this picturesque Yorkshire town.
Famed for the BBC show "Last of the Summer Wine", it's a mecca for anyone who's funny bone has been tickled by this warm comedy from the 70's through to the early part of the 2000's.
Modern hostelries abound, some great exhibitions, cafes and pubs used extensively in the TV series all combined with the beauty of the Yorkshire landscape featured throughout the escapades of the characters of the show.
We'll be back in the summer to further explore the scenic beauty and further enjoy the views these three old men brought to life on our TV screens.

Holmfirth is a great place to visit.
Holmfirth is a great place to visit. Home of “Last of the summer wine” of course but also a great venue to visit is The Picturedrome for a Northern Soul music gig which was fantastic. Some lovely bars and eateries plus some quirky shops as well. Defo a place to visit for the weekend.

Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes...
Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes, for both day and night. Most places are dog friendly. Holmfirth does not just feel like a tourist town, but a genuinely welcoming, thriving town for all and the neighbouring villages and country pubs are well worth exploring. P
The owner Andrea was very friendly and helpful with a good sense of humor. She left a personalised booklet giving advice on local places that were good and those that were not so. The cottage was really nice and clean and full of character with quirky-shaped rooms and corridors. We came down to see bands that were playing at the Picturedome, which was an easy 2-minute walk, as were a number of restaurants for after. We will no doubt be coming back once more bands we like come play Holmfirth.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Holmfirth. Facing Sid's cafe, 5 min walk from Nora Batty's home and 10 mins from graves of Bill Owen and Peter Sallis. A visit to the White Horse is a 3 mile drive.
The hotel itself has a nice bar and restaurant with seating outside. Tea / coffee making facilities in every room. Most importantly the hotel has its own private car park.
Stayed here a couple of times. The rooms are nice and clean with all the facilities we need. Staff are helpful and friendly. The hot water was not working in the room when we arrived so we reported it to the staff and it was dealt with very quickly so it wasnt a problem. Property is in a great location being so close to the picturedrome. We will definitely stay here again.
On the hills above Holmfirth, closer to Meltham, so we didn’t walk in for an evening. Views though fabulous.Wonderful helpful staff. Busy restaurant area, no real lounge/ bar though no problem with sitting and having a drink in the restaurant. Big garden and function room. Breakfast generally good, could have been improved with warm plates.
We had a lovely time at Holmfirth. The Lodge was a perfect place to stay. Cathy and George were so kind and everything was perfect. It was like a 5 star hotel room with the most comfortable bed and lovely treats which we didnt expect. We will definitely be going back to stay and will highly recommend it to family and friends.
Great pub/hotel, staff very friendly and attentive, food excellent - best Rag Pudding we've ever had - location just right - close enough to Holmfirth but far enough away to avoid crowds. Darren and Vicky great hosts and we wish them well for the future. We would certainly recommend the White Horse.
The breakfast was very good plenty of food and drink refills, by attentive staff.
The location is central Holmfirth convenient for everything can't fault the location.
Handy shared kitchen and lounge downstairs for guest use , also adjoins The Nook pub that provides Tapas meals
The property was located out of the way, but very close to Holmfirth. Parking was easy and the views from the property gyou an extra lift every morning. It is well insulated, as I traveled with the storms recently, the heating didn't need to be turned up high.
Staff were really friendly and helpful coulofault the service. Room was very clean and comfortable with everything you need. Breakfast was lovely with again fast and friendly service. Location was gorgeous and near to Holmfirth .
Great communications. Kept informed. Received a welcome text from owner before arrival. Loved the buzz of Holmfirth. The property was right bang in the middle of town. Perfect location. And coffee shops so cheap compared to home.
Nice contemporary interior decoration in the rooms, excellent breakfast with good breakfast menu choices, very helpful and friendly staff, great food in the restaurant, good location for Holmfirth and the surrounding area.
Absolutely gorgeous little cottage, beautifully decorated.
The only thing to bear in mind is that it's up a VERY steep hill - as is most of Holmfirth, but that helps burn off the calories 🙂
lovely friendly homely hotel, love the homely casual feel of the restaurant and bar, the staff are lovey and welcoming. great home cooked food in the bar or restaurant and its Dog friendly.
Cosy cottage, comfy beds, well equipped. Easy walk into Holmfirth. Kate, the host, very helpful, excellent communication and gave very good suggestions for local walks and pubs for food.
