Breakfast was excellent and honestly why we chose Portman Lodge. My husband wanted to experience an English Breakfast. Neal was super helpful and friendly. The room was much nicer, comfortable and more modern than expected.

Basically a converted garden shed (hence the name) - but VERY extensively converted at that. Super comfortable room, bathroom next door (with an amazing shower head, never thought I'd mention that in a B&B but here we are). Fronting on a large and very nice garden, including lots of birds, occasionally the owner's dog bouncing around (super friendly!), and even the odd rabbit. The owners are amazing, and - as also hinted in the name - they make their own Cider. Which you can of course taste, and buy if you like it (which you will if you like Cider in general).

The homestay, set in a building dating from 1952, is 20 km from Corfe Castle and 29 km from Poole Harbour. The accommodation offers a housekeeping service and private check-in and check-out for guests. The location was perfect and conveniently located next to The Red Lion serving excellent food and cask ales. The breakfast provided was super - plenty for us, nice variety of continental eats with fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, croissants and cheese and ham. My husband is six feet and broad shouldered so he had a tricky time in the shower but made it work (like he always has to!). Water pitcher, biscuits (thank you!), coffee and tea provided in room. Super clean and comfortable for a short stay. Finally, Vince and Irene were wonderful hosts!

The location was ideal, easy to find and only a short walk into town. The breakfast was very good, quality produce all well cooked. Our room was at the back and therefore very quiet, a comfortable room with everything we needed for our stay.
