Portland House is a spacious Grade II Listed Georgian Property positioned in a village setting within an area of outstanding natural beauty. On the cusp of the beautiful counties of Herefordshire, Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire, it is the perfect base for walking, cycling, canoeing and fishing, being directly opposite Symonds Yat at the edge of the Forest of Dean. In addition to the private rooms on offer all guests have access to a dedicated guest lounge, with large flat screen TV, board games and access out to the large fully enclosed garden. There are several seating areas in the garden which guests can enjoy along with a fire pit and bbq available on request, small fee applies for charcoal/wood. The guests dining-room has facilities for eating-in with a toaster, microwave, kettle and refrigerator provided along with all associated crockery and cutlery. We welcome well-behaved dogs, additional cleaning fee applies. We have the facility to store bikes, canoes and fishing gear.

We moved to beautiful Whitchurch after falling in love with Portland House and the surrounding area. We enjoy good food, sport, exploring the great outdoors especially walking and cycling and much more. Having worked in the public sector for over 30 years, we wanted a change of direction which would allow us to continue our passion for engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds. We look forward to many happy years welcoming visitors to our home and the area.

Portland House is situated close to the River Wye with easy access to the Forest of Dean where you can enjoy activities whatever your interest. From beautiful scenery to the thrills of mountain biking, a tranquil paddle on the river, fishing or why not explore the countryside from Dean Valley Railway. For the young at heart there are many adventure playgrounds including Go Ape and for those of you with a tipple in mind, why not explore the vineyards, distilleries and cider producers.
