Modern self contained guest apartment in a waterside setting with stunning views of the river Exe and beyond toward the Riverside Valley Park and Haldon Forest. It has a king size bedroom with en suite shower and seperate wc. The lounge area has a kitchenette and a double sofa bed. There are beautiful river walks directly outside the property. The property has a private entrance and free on street parking. The drive is steep and the garden is open, so not suitable for people with mobility issues and toddlers must be supervised. The cathedral city of Exeter is a walk along the river and boasts many shops and restaurants.
The apartment forms part of our family home so, as hosts, we are in close proximity should you need anything. We have lived in the area for 20 years so have a wealth of knowledge to help you make the most of your stay in this beautiful location.
Countess Wear village is an historic village of thatched cottages and narrow streets and has a unique setting on the edge of the river Exe. It is a quiet beauty spot where nature is in abundance. Swans and ducks are just some of the residents visible from the property along with cattle, herons and many other birds as RSPB Matford Marshes is within walking distance. There is a local pub serving food only 300m from the front door. Guests can access cycle and walking routes directly outside the property, so park up your car and travel to lots of destinations on foot or by bicycle. The circular route follows the river and canal with pub stops along the way. The paths also lead to Exeter's historic Quay, the vibrant Cathedral City Centre and to the sandy beaches of Exmouth and Dawlish. The quaint town of Topsham is also nearby with it's beautiful buildings and independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The main bus stop to all destinations is about 5 minute walk from the property. There is access to the river Exe directly outside the property should you have a paddleboard or canoe! It is tidal so access depends on tide times. We can provide you with more information.
