The cabin is located in beautiful scenery with a variety of animals that inhabit the grounds, including red deer, roe deer, red squirrels, peacocks,ducks and with ponds and streams this is one of the most serene places in the Lake District. Nestled between Ambleside (8 minutes’ drive away), Hawkshead (6 minutes’ drive away) and Coniston (8 minutes’ drive away) and only 18 minutes away by car from Windermere. It is ideally placed to access some of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Hawkshead offers a variety of independent shops, pubs, and eateries. Tarn Hows, once owned by Beatrix Potter, is on the doorstep. You can walk around the lake and take in the incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Old Man of Coniston, Langdale Pikes, and Fairfield are also within walking distance. As well as walking you have many other options for a day out, within easy travelling distance. Waterhead Pier in Ambleside is the gateway to ferries that terminate at Bowness, Lakeside Pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle, and Brockhole Visitor Centre, or if you would rather navigate the waters yourself, motor and rowing boats can be hired. Nestled between Ambleside( 8minutes drive from the property) ,Hawkshead(6 minutes drive from the property) and Coniston(8 minutes drive from the property) and only 18 minutes away by car from Windermere. High Grassings country house stands in an elevated position set in 12 acres of wooded fell side with breath taking mountain views. Our extensive grounds are inhabited by a variety of wild life including red deer, roe deer, red squirrel and a multitude of songbirds.We also have have ponds and streams, which makes this one of the most tranquil settings in the Lake District. We are within walking distance to Hawkshead Village where there are a selection of shops and eateries. Also within easy walking distance (15 mins) is the popular local Inn, The Drunken Duck which has a fantastic restaurant and even has its own micro brewery. Tarn Hows (once owned by Beatrix Potter) is on our doorstep you can walk around the lake and take in the amazing views of the surrounding mountains Old Man of Coniston, Langdale Pikes and Fairfield to name a few is also on the doorstep and within walking distance. There are plenty of other walks you can do from the house so you don't have to use the car.
