The Wellington is a historic, traditional pub/inn with a few rooms upstairs. Being an older construction, the owners did a great job in making the rooms comfortable and unique. My room had a small, modern and efficient shower with a small sink as well. My toilet was down the hall and private. Downstairs in the pub, the staff was incredibly friendly and it had the feeling of being welcomed into the family. I was thinking of exploring the surrounding neighborhood, but Tom at the bar was so cheerful and easy going, i stayed and had the Lamb Shank dinner. In all honesty, i have been in the UK for over a month now and i have sadly discovered to lower my expectations with the traditional British menus. But the Lamb Shank suprised me as a dish i can rave about when i get back home to the USA. Additionally, being an overnight guest, everything was 15% discount for food and drinks!! If you are looking for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that has some of the Old World charm, then Tom and the rest of the crew will trwat you just right!!!! The location can’t be beat for sitting right in the middle of the historic district.

The hotel went out of their way to meet these needs. The Service was excellent! We had a lovely comfortable room with all the facilities we required. The Sea View was great, Mum was very happy sitting and enjoying the view of the ships going in and out from the Isle of Wight, Brittany etc. We could see the top of the Spinnaker Tower, which was lit up at night.

Excellent service from the staff in reception and at the bar. Enjoyed reading the plaques and history of the hotel.
