Since the 16th century, The Spread Eagle has hosted historic guests such as King Charles II and the writer Evelyn Waugh. Today it offers a warm welcome, excellent food and free Wi-Fi.

The Spread Eagle was made famous by the unusual John Fothergill, who owned the hotel in the 1920s. He wrote about this in the popular book, “An Innkeepers Diary”.

Beautiful room which opened onto a garden with fabulous decor that was a funky but tasteful blend of old and new… plus kippers for breakfast…what more could you want?

bed was massive, as was the television! pool was nice. breakfast was ok, but the room could do with a revamp. reception staff were amazing! room service food was nice, but no kid options and the ice cream came at the same time so melted by the time dinner was done! all in all, our stay was lovely though.

Very peaceful, easy to get to but you feel you are away from it all……And the wood fire hot tub!! The accommodation is small, cute, looked like it had just been refurbed . Spotlessly clean. comfy bed. beautiful views, lots of wildlife. Thame is a stones throw away . We had a superb dinner in The Black Horse pub. Can’t wait to come back!

Sheila was a great host, dinner and breakfast were delicious. Beds were comfy, lovely crisp white cotton linens with extra blankets. Shower room was small but perfectly formed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
