A family run business who make you feel warm and welcome from the time you book until you leave. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the local area. I feel I have to mention the very high standard of food. Its not the run of the mill bar food here. Its food fitting of a Manor house. I only wish we had stayed longer to try everything on the menu. All very reasonably priced as well. Real ale behind the bar and an open log fire. Large selection of drinks and food all day and the breakfast was spot on. Whether you are looking for a place to stay or after a meal with a proper local feel then you won't be let down if you give the Manor House a try. Well worth a visit.

Set in Castle Eden, 2.3 km from Crimdon Beach, The Ship inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant. The ship inn's location/accommodation/gardens and breakfast was excellent, couldn't ask for nicer,such welcoming hosts my wife and I felt like we were part of the furniture and most certainly will be coming back again 😃

It was beautiful and so cozy! It was unexpected because its located on top of a bar, but it was just such a lovely room, very clean, great shower, excellent location, easy check in, just perfect.

Il Kings Lodge Inn offre un accogliente bar, un ristorante,un parcheggio gratuito e un facile accesso al centro di Durham. I were there visit a professor alone. The host gave me very warm welcome. The staff offered me help when he saw me carried large lagguage. The room was very nice, which has two window facing the garden. It also warm and clean. The bar downstaire was super nice. I enjoied my stay in the hotel.

Lovely to stay somewhere with real character. We loved sitting in the bar in the evening. The two ladies behind the bar were really friendly and we learned some history about the pub. Because we have stayed before we were given a complimentary bottle of wine. Thank you very much x
