Situated in Stock, 9.2 km from Hylands Park, The Harvard Inn features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Lovely place to stay, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was delicious and really good value.

The best inn I have ever stayed inn! It's a 1500s building and it is gorgeous and fascinating inside. So much to look at, lovingly and tastefully restored and preserved. See pics. Fantastic staff. I didn't use the pub / restaurant but it looked superb. I did have breakfast which was 10 out of 10, see pic. The location is in the heart of the historic old town, all the streets are narrow and quaint, I managed to find parking up the street, but the whole area wasn't designed for motor cars. Be aware that the many steep stairs are not suitable if you have mobility issues or heavy suitcases, so if that's you call them to discuss your options. See the pic of the paper they gave me to help me navigate the labyrinth! Overall the best historic property I have ever stayed in, and I have travelled a lot. Don't miss staying here!

Situated in the quiet hamlet of Littley Green in the heart of the Essex countryside, The Compasses is a Victorian Pub steeped in history and tradition. I loved the country atmosphere of the accommodation. Staff where very helpful and obliging.

In the small village of Sheering, this family run Public House offers 12 en-suite bedrooms. The Cock Inn is a family run free house that has been run by the Bedford family for over 20 years. Amazing place, great people and hospitality, lovely breakfast. The personnel was very helpful, if you need to book a taxi and flexible so to stay in your room a little bit longer. We loved the vibe of this hotel. Overall, very clean and in the room you can fin everything you need, the hairdryer, iron even holy bible.

We always stay at the George mainly based on its location and staff Joey on reception was extremely helpful in many ways during our stay and is a credit to the organisation

Small but comfortable room, modern bathroom, fast WIFI, high quality pub food. Various cooked breakfast options including vegetarian.

The Fox Inn has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Matching. Located around 26 km from Chelmsford Train Station, the inn with free WiFi is also 30 km away from Hylands Park. Excellent accommodation close to Stanstead Airport with wonderful pub restaurant and great staff. Lovely to have air conditioning in bed room!

Boasting a terrace, restaurant, bar and free WiFi, Kings Arms Hotel is set in Stansted Mountfitchet, 200 metres from Stansted Mountfitchet Station and 14 km from Audley End House. A clean and homely room with a lot of consideration for the guests, there were dressing gowns, soaps, good coffee and snacks etc. provided. Staff were wonderful and very friendly. It was a very welcome break when we had to stay an extra night at the airport. Great pub downstairs for socialising in the evening. Would definitely stay again!

Located 9.1 km from Audley End House, The Cricketers Clavering offers 4-star accommodation in Clavering and features a terrace, a restaurant and a bar. English breakfast was good. Good WiFi. Friendly staff!
